About the Case:​

On October 19, 1997, family members notified Henrico Police that the victim, identified as Patricia Ann Schmidt, had been missing since June 4, 1985. At the time Ms. Schmidt had been living in the 1800 block of Baylor Road in Henrico County with her husband, Ralph Schmidt and their two children. Witness statements and interviews indicate Ralph Schmidt was a person of interest to detectives at the time.

Born Patricia Ann Slate. She married Ralph Joseph Schmidt in 1981 in Chesterfield, Va when she was 17 and he was 28. This all comes from her marriage record on Ancestry. That she is the right person is confirmed by her birthdate on the record matching that on the Charley Project site. A divorce is recorded in September 1986, a year after she went missing. This records that there were 2 children. The husband remarried in 1991.
