Also can I ask the media, concerned groups and politicians to look into this for me. I believe many of the men whose images which include mugshots and them being paraded in jails in shackles are actually innocent including the three that Anne-Marie Schubert has in her Sacramento Jail and she is of course one of the founding mothers of this organisation. Please I also believe Mr McCraney is also innocent and was in fact a Church Leader and role model for others in his community to look up to:

Grandparent - Police Officer - Church Leader - Tech Executive
Truck Driver - Father - Mother - Neighbor - Friend

Here are some more details about the change of ownership at GEDMATCH:
GEDmatch Partners with Genomics Firm
By: Julian Husbands|Published on: Dec 9, 2019||

For Immediate Release

SAN DIEGO, CA (December 9, 2019) — GEDmatch, a pioneer in consumer genealogy, today announced that it has joined with forensic genomics firm Verogen, Inc. in a move that allows the company to ensure ongoing privacy protections and enhance the customer experience for users of its website.

“I am confident that we have found an ideal partner for GEDmatch,” said founder Curtis Rogers. “Verogen understands our philosophy and shares the vision of GEDmatch, which has always been about using science to connect people,” Rogers said. “Verogen is able to support our growth while staying true to our roots.”

GEDmatch allows users to upload genetic profiles created by other genealogy sites in order to expand the search for familial links. GEDmatch’s database currently has more than 1.3 million customer profiles and is gaining as many as 1,000 new users every day.

In the coming months, GEDmatch users will begin to see improvements to the website, such as an enhanced homepage that offers increased functionality, Verogen CEO Brett Williams said. Verogen will also bolster the GEDmatch platform, resulting in increased stability and optimal searchability. These back-end changes won’t disrupt the experience for users and, in fact, will make searching the database easier, Williams said.

GEDmatch’s terms of service will not change, with respect to the use, purposes of processing, and disclosures of user data, Williams confirmed. The website gives users a choice to opt-in to allow law enforcement to search uploaded files as a tool to solve violent crimes. Among the successes of this technology is work by public safety officials who used GEDMatch to apprehend accused Golden State Killer Joseph DeAngelo, a notorious serial killer who terrorized California and evaded police for decades until his arrest in 2018.

As many as 70 violent crimes have been solved as a result of genealogy searches. “Never before have we as a society had the opportunity to serve as a molecular eyewitness, enabling law enforcement to solve violent crimes efficiently and with certainty,” Williams said.

“Still, our users have the absolute right to choose whether they want to share their information with law enforcement by opting in,” Williams said. “We are steadfast in our commitment to protecting users’ privacy and will fight any future attempts to access data of those who have not opted in.”

Added Rogers: “Our number one priority is our customers. We are and always have been a genealogy site whose goal is to help people find answers they’re looking for about themselves and their families. As we grow, we want to enhance the customer experience by making the site more user-friendly and by ensuring data is protected. Verogen can help us do that.”

Under terms of the deal, Rogers will retain a key role focused on the primary mission of GEDmatch, which is to provide tools to help amateur and professional researchers and genealogists.

GEDmatch Acquired by Verogen

These are serious points. In my view GEDMATCH did not help to solve the Golden State Killer case it helped to wrongly identify an innocent man as the actual offender was a man called Ralph Leon Jackson. So in my opinion it helped to cause a great deal of harm to an innocent man and his family and the users of this site should be made aware of this particularly in the light of the campaign to get them to OPT IN to LE use by organisations such as for the Institute for DNA Justice whose board members in my opinion were involved in the process that wrongly accused an innocent man of being The Golden State Killer:

Here is another report about the purchase of GEDMATCH and the new owners clearly state they intend to concentrate on 'solving' crimes as well as ancestry which was the original purpose of GEDMATCH. Again I state again for US Public's information that I do not believe the emaciated Mr DeAngelo is the actual Golden State Killer and the actual offender was in my opinion a man called Ralph Leon Jackson. It is also my opinion that GEDMATCH and other DNA Websites have been used in flawed investigative genetic genealogy procedures where other innocent people have wrongly been accused of crimes they did not commit:

Brett Williams, Verogen’s CEO, said in a statement that a new version of the existing site will focus on solving crimes, “not just connecting family members via their DNA.”

“Never before have we as a society had the opportunity to serve as a molecular eyewitness, enabling law enforcement to solve violent crimes efficiently and with certainty,” Williams said.

Current and new GEDmatch users still have the ability to “opt-out,” of criminal DNA searches, which has been a feature put in place in May after outcry from privacy advocates against Utah law enforcement, The Crime Report reported.

It is my view that this knew CEO clearly does not understand that there have been mistakes through the use of flawed investigative genealogy and therefore in my opinion his company could repeat the same mistakes. Anyway I feel the US Public have the right to know the truth and make a judgement as to whether it poses risks to their Constitution and the values of their country.

I say again please can interested parties look into it for me in the context that a number of innocent people have been wrongly accused of crimes they did not commit through the use of flawed investigative genealogy and this includes in the Golden State Killer case where in my opinion the actual offender was a man called Ralph Leon Jackson.

Here are differing opinions from the above report:

Reactions so far, have been mixed. “I suspect this will be the last straw for all the genealogists who don’t want to share with law enforcement,” Debbie Kennett, a genealogist and honorary research associate at University College London, told WIRED. On Monday GEDmatch updated its terms of service to reflect the new ownership, but it did not alert users via email. Kennett found out from a Facebook group discussion. When she tried to log into GEDmatch, she discovered she was locked out until she accepted the new terms. (Additional options included deciding later and permanently deleting all her data from the GEDmatch servers.) According to a Verogen spokesperson, whatever settings users had earlier selected for their GEDmatch profiles—opting in or out of police searches—will remain under the new terms.

Some genealogists are hopeful that under Verogen’s management, the database won’t be as susceptible to investigative overreaches or genetic data phishing attacks. “Curt and John have just been out there on their own, protecting the data from the rest of the world,” says Colleen Fitzpatrick, a genealogist and forensic consultant. (Curtis Rogers, 81, and John Olson, 68, launched GEDmatch in 2010. Neither could be reached for comment.) “Having Verogen buy it takes some of the concerns about the future of GEDmatch away'.

As I have said in my opinion there needs to be a proper debate with the full facts available to the US Public and this in my view includes the fact that DNA profiles at GEDMATCH have bene used in a number of cases where innocent men have wrongly been accused of crimes they did not commit and are currently being held in prison for them and this includes the Golden State Killer where I believe the actual offender was a man called Ralph Leon Jackson:

“Beforehand, it was somewhat of an ad hoc system, and whoever wanted to be there was going to come in and use it,” says Brad Malin, co-director of the Center for Genetic Privacy and Identity in Community Settings at Vanderbilt University. The acquisition signals a shift in purpose. “Now, it will be used for law enforcement in a much more systematic manner than was the case.”

The announcement took many in the genetics and genealogy community by surprise, and many genealogists are leaving the platform. “There have simply been too many changes, all of them in the direction of making their data the product rather than the website a service,” said lawyer and genealogist Judy Russell in an email to The Verge.

Here is another interesting blog about investigative genetic genealogy with some links to interesting reports. To me as I have stated the major problem that needs to be addressed is that LE are actually wrongly identifying innocent people as the offenders in many cases because the science they are using is flawed and they do not understand this:

Barbara Rae-Venter has described the situation as do not rock the boat and has been a strong advocate with others for genealogists and LE to have greater access to innocent peoples genetic information. I would say that by being wrongly accused of crimes Mr DeAngelo and his family has had their boats rocked when the actual offender was a man called Ralph Leon Jackson in my view:

Genetic genealogy experts said that until now, the law enforcement community had been deliberately cautious about approaching the consumer sites with court orders: If users get spooked and abandon the sites, they will become much less useful to investigators. Barbara Rae-Venter, a genetic genealogist who works with law enforcement, described the situation as “Don’t rock the boat.”

This video is about the takeover of GEDMATCH. It has one of those funny computerised voices but is very factual. Again if any privacy and concerned groups read my posts I urge them to investigate the takeover and the consequences of it in light of my view that GEDMATCH was used by LE to misidentify an innocent man as the offender in the Golden State Killer case and the actual offender was a man called Ralph Leon Jackson:

Here is another report about the sale of GEDMATCH:

DNA site GEDmatch sold to forensic genomics firm

As I keep saying on here the ethical debate is at the moment too stacked one was as I believe GEDMATCH did not help to solve the Golden State Killer case but actually played a role in the misidentification of a innocent man as the offender when the actual offender was a man called Ralph Leon Jackson. It is my opinion the DNA sample entered into GEDMATCH was not even a pure sample of the offenders DNA in the Golden State Killer case:

Concern over future breach of ethics
Overall, most would conclude that the police gaining access to our genetic data without our prior consent is a small price to pay to help catch and convict suspects of serious crimes. However, future technological developments in genetic profiling could open up an entirely different threat to human rights.

Here is another report about the selling of GEDMATCH. I again ask people to investigate it for me in the light of my belief that GEDMATCH has been involved in many misidentifications of LE through the use of flawed investigative genetic genealogy 'science' they do not understand. This includes the Golden State Killer case where it is my belief the actual offender was a man called Ralph Leon Jackson. I think it is morally wrong that anyone involved with what I consider to be this misidentification should financially profit from it and also as GEDMATCH has clearly been sold so that its DNA profiles can be more readily used by LE and their genealogists there is in my view the real prospect of further misidentifications and further suffering caused to innocent people and their families:

It is my opinion that the FBI have known that Ralph Leon Jackson is the most prolific Serial Killer in US History for almost a decade but as of yet have not identified him as such. They are also aware that men held in many cases through the use of investigative genealogy are innocent including Joseph DeAngelo in the Golden State Killer case and William Talbott in Washington State where I believe he was wrongly convicted on the basis of a scientifically flawed DNA hit that the FBI were aware was not a legitimate one. Here is another report about the takeover of GEDMATCH:
