I've read this whole thread, and what confuses me the most is if it was a voluntary disappearance, why did he use his wife's car? Maybe they only had one car. But surely he had to have known that if he took his wife's car and didn't return it at an expected time, she would've gotten suspicious and started looking for him—which is the exact opposite of what he might've wanted if he was looking to disappear and start a new life.
