We've seen cases where the body was found in areas which had previously been searched. Tempting to think he fled and someone is helping him, but I don't think that will be the case here.
i hope you’re right
(and I just discovered that we can tiny violin react, seemed apropos)

A respected older gentleman in our community had been molesting young girls for years. When the police came to arrest him, he went into the restroom and shot himself. It isn't an unusual reaction.

Also a young man was arrested for drugs and was having mental health problems. When he was released on bond, he walked out and didn't pick up his keys. He walked out to a nearby creek and was found deceased days later.

All are similar circumstances.

Travis Turner's high school football team is dumped out of playoffs as hunt for fugitive coach ramps up in the wake of gruesome new theory.

Even as the search goes on, his players continued their pursuit of a championship. But on Saturday, the Bears were beaten in the Class 2 State Semifinals game by Glenvar.

Lol.
Typical Daily Mail to hint they were barred from playing, when in fact their loss meant they can't be in the playoffs ? 🙄

Still divided in my opinion about what happened to Travis, and have not completely rejected the notion he fled out of the country esp. if he had assistance ?
But I'm leaning more towards self-harm and if so he passed judgment on himself.

So sorry for all of his victims.
The scars will last a lifetime, imo.

I think he self-harmed the day he walked into the woods with the gun because he was guilty and didn't want to face the consequences.

Just like that recent loser who killed himself, rather than take his prison sentence for killing his daughter in a hot car, Christopher Scholtes. Should have arrested him the day he pled guilty.

Same with this guy, was it somehow "leaked" to him that he was going to be arrested? He wanted out, rather than face the truth of what kind of man he really is?

Terrible for his family.

I don't know how it is in Virginia, but in Texas, administrators and any one else must report even a suspicion of inappropriate behavior with a minor. If you fail to do this, you will lose your certification. At that point it would be investigated to find out if the charges are legitimate. The offender would immediately be removed from the school until the investigation is complete irregardless of guilt or innocence. Just a few weeks ago a Texas coach was removed from the school because of allegations of sexual assault against a minor that occurred in a county 40 miles away. If Virginia's laws are similar, the person may know before an arrest is made.

I thought of this story, if our speculations turn out to be correct. (And he didn't even use HIS OWN car, but a neighbor's! Maybe he couldn't drive any more; IDK.)

His victims must be terrified not knowing where he is.

Eta alleged victims etc etc

In the case of the Texas coach, he was arrested at the school so he would most likely not have had advance notice.
