Lie detectors are also used to flush out confessions.

I am so glad LE was able to eventually conclusively solve many of these murders. So important for the victim's families to understand what happened.

Sad/ glad to read this, though feels like it's a (perhaps overdue) confirmation of what the recent evidence already strongly suggested.

My sense also is that for some of these victimized families, being able to grieve and remember with more certain knowledge includes the bonus of less time and effort (and fewer tension headaches) whilst trying to draw information from a reluctant FBI...
Thinking of fellow Websleuther @billthom56 and the family of Rebecca Dowski. They are in my prayers. I wish they didn’t have to wait so long, but am grateful they have answers.

The big question remaining is; How many more victims are there?
Exactly. Does anyone believe that he just stopped at the age of 35?

More than 35 years ago, 10 On Your Side first raised the question in the Brian Pettinger murder case that, whether due to proximity to the other victims and the close timing of the murders, Pettinger, who was murdered in 1987, must be considered as part of the Colonial Parkway murders.
'In our report we show the blurred image of Brian Pettinger’s body in the water, but the autopsy pictures are so brutal we can’t show them.
However, in previous reports in 1989, while operating under different broadcast standards, 10 On Your Side did show pictures from the Pettinger crime file from Suffolk Police.
The lead investigator in the case believed that Pettinger had likely been hog-tied.'
