VA - (Trigger warning) Explosive allegations made about Fairfax County, VA school system

In Washington state you don’t need a parent’s permission to receive an abortion if you are underage. I am aware of this happening in the 1980’s in California. You get a ride, have the procedure done and tell your folks you are having a bad period and go to bed for a couple days. So is the issue the fact that a counselor assisted her? It seems to me that is where you would go for assistance if you couldn’t go to your parents.

Here is a breakdown by state: Abortion Laws by State - Center for Reproductive Rights
As we see from the article, Virginia is a non-protected state. In the state of Virginia you need parental/legal guardian written consent and in person. It's the law.

I wonder who signed the consent form and appeared in person. I'm pretty VSP, Fairfax County School Administration, and Virginia Attorney General already have the answer. Moo .. I do believe we will see charges being filed. I certainly hope the social worker is on administrative leave until this investigation is complete.

Do you need parental consent for abortion?

For minors under age 18, Virginia requires that an authorized representative (examples: a parent, grandparent, adult sibling or legal guardian) with whom the minor lives give permission (written and in person) for an abortion. A judge can excuse someone from these requirements.

If you are under the age of 18 and need help talking with your parents or seeking judicial bypass we can help.

The investigation into the allegations has been going on for over a month. I wonder how long it takes to get past "allegation" and determine facts. Seems like the allegations are living on and being repeated, but has any progress been made in the actual investigation? Or a deadline set to report findings?

From the article linked above your post:

  • FCPS has been ordered to submit records, policies, and communications related to abortion referrals and parental notification by Oct. 17.

I'm waiting to hear from Virginia State Police and Governor Youngkin. I'll reserve judgment until their investigation is complete. Moo ...

From the link, bbm:

The 61-page interim report concludes the teacher who made the allegations fabricated a disturbing narrative about the student abortion after she’d been disciplined for allegedly helping another student get a pregnancy test.

I just read the 61 page intern report. Interesting it focuses in Ms Perez. It does NOT disclose the school interviewed the public health nurse, FCP health nurse or the social worker involved. Mainly consists of FCS policies. It defines what schools "should do", does NOT document what actually happened.

From the report, the student was undocumented, homeless and placed with an "Uncle" who denies having "legal" guardianship. The student is listed as homeless status with school. The students parents are not located in the US. The student has since vanished.

Interesting the 61 page report doesn't address the discipline report on helping a student obtain a pregnant test, by Ms Perez. I hope the disciplinary report is released.

It's hard to give up a conspiracy theory, but I think this has been one from the start.
