VA VA- Unidentified 12-year-old abducted in Spotsylvania, 4 July 2013

 • #401
They also refer to another incident:

"The vehicle in the first incident was described as a white van, possibly an older model Ford Econoline, that was parked on Midland Avenue adjacent to the school parking lot. The van had a large dent down low in the middle of the passenger side as well as steel bars on the interior of the rear windows. "

Steel bars?!!! WTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually fairly common and not necessarily sinister. It's to keep thieves from breaking out the windows to steal the contractor's tools while the van is parked.

I don't know how much I should say right now but it's looking like there's a chance I know who this kid is.

<Modnote: This is a separate case w/similar circumstances> The 11-year-old said she was walking home on Tuesday when an unknown man grabbed her in the 43600 block of Mink Meadows Street.

Police said he is described as a Hispanic man in his mid to late 20s with brownish-green eyes and thick dark brown or black hair. He was also described as 5’10" to 6' tall with a normal build and tan complexion. He was said to be wearing a black hoodie over a black t-shirt with baggy blue jeans.

Police also said the man has facial freckles, a big nose, a flesh colored mole on or near his left nostril and a black mole near the upper right side of his hairline.

The incident happened around 7:45 p.m. The child ran home and did not require any medical treatment. Loudoun County Sheriff's Deputies and Fairfax County Police searched the area, but did not find the suspect.

Bumping this one from yesterday, since it seems relevant to the similar cases. It happened in Loudon County, about an hour's drive from Spotsylvania.

And it happened the evening of Tuesday July 2. So just a couple of days before.

You've shared this information with authorities I'll assume.

Oh my. Anything we can do to help?

Still no name of this child. Breaks my heart.

Skimming through this thread, makes me believe something happened to the parent(s) first and then the boy was taken.

If police are able to figure out why that blue van was in the neighborhood (seems like a worker van, my maintenance man has one--it's also blue) they might be able to get somewhere.

I bet the van wasn't in this same neighborhood working, but maybe somewhere adjacent to it.

If this was a domestic issue, surely this would have been solved by now. Hell, if it was even people raising a child they abducted, wouldn't they still tell the police info to at least keep that child safe from harm? They did in fact keep the child alive and raised them after all (that was twisted to have to type, but hope the logical point was made).

Tara,

Like carbuff said, anything we can do to help, just name it. I would be willing to contact authorities on your behalf; I spoke with them earlier today anyway when I called in another possible tip.

Thanks carbuff. Makes sense.

So, perhaps one of these perps carries valuable tools in his vehicle.

Completely off topic:

According to Wikipedia, "Spotsylvania County was established in 1721 from Essex, King and Queen, and King William counties. The county was named in Latin for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia Alexander Spotswood."

Not sure what will come of the situation...deleting this post just to be safe.

(Since Tara deleted her post, I deleted my quote too.)

Yeah, it does soudn possible. Nasty things can happen in divorce situations and based on your description I'm concerned not only about your cousin's welfare but also your aunt's.

Hugs! I hope it's a false alarm!

This girl got a great description!!! Perp will not be able to hide that growth on his nose--dermatology is always booked out for months!

It's a bit of a stretch but the descriptions of van and driver are similar, on the face of it.

The incident with the white van in Pennsylvania caught my attention here.

Take a look at two other incidents involving white vans.

Tara -
I think you should have someone check on your Aunt, even without the possible connection to your cousin.
My Uncle passed away 2 weeks ago. The last time anyone talked to him was Saturday.
We planned to go check on him several times but other things came up. (Like my Aunt's death.)
He wasn't found until Thursday and I feel horrible that it took that long to find him.

Call LE and request a welfare check.
Just mention that this got you thinking since her son resembles the description.
Let them go check on them. :seeya:

Spotsylvania is not that far from the I95 corridor. I wonder if there are cameras/EZ pass stations to look into. I say that without an iota of knowledge of how EZ pass works--I'm a Midwest girl ;)

Tara;

I agree with the others I would definitely contact LE right away, in case smething has happened to your aunt as well.

The girl screamed loudly and kicked the suspect until she escaped, police say.

Good girl

You need not worry about calling for a welfare check. It is not like reporting anything 'bad' to LE. It is merely standard procedure when relatives from out of state cannot reach family members. No harm, No foul, if every thing checks out. :cop:
