VA VA - Unsolved Rapes, Assaults, maybe murders, apartments, Fairfax, 1982-86

Ok so, this post is going to be sort of missing parts. This happened to a family member of mine. She was in her apartment, with her two sons 3 or 4 & 1 or 2, she had recently just broken up with someone(which they investigated but it didn't go anywhere). She was raped, severely beaten, and left for dead, she was in a coma for a time. If I can remember correctly, her mother came over because she was late to drop the boys off for work, the door was hard to open, in which the oiler son pushed stuff against it, I don't remember why, maybe it was locked, but I don't think so, I'll have to ask her sister, but she heard her grandson tell her his mom wouldn't wake up and when she finally got in, that's when she found her.
Now, no one knows who did it. There was assumptions that is was the maintenance man, in which he was the son of the owners or something, this had happened before in buildings he lived in, but they moved before anything could be done about it each time. That is what I was told, but I'm not sure. I was told the person who did it, had a key to the apartment. That leaves few people. But I'm also wondering why he was stacking stuff against the door to get to the lock, if it was locked or not, because that can be a major difference, unless he was just trying to reach the door knob. Because it's a touchy subject, I haven't asked about in a long time so I'm going by memory. I feel this person needs to be brought to justice, because God knows what else he's done to others since then. It was in Falls Church VA, in an apartment complex, I will get the exact name and come back to this to edit, it happened in 1984 or 86. My memory is fuzzy, and I was also just a kid when it happened. I was wondering if anyone had heard any of the same sort of story or situation, she can't remember anything, so it's up to what everyone else can remember.... Thank you. It's also close to impossible to find any kind of old news stories about it. I contacted the cold case unit, but if course they can't discuss anything with me and she can't remember,as well as I don't want to make her remember if she doesn't have to.... Anything would help...

This must be hard for you. I’m so sorry. You’re brave to be doing this for her though. I understand not wanting her to remember but that may be the best way. If she wants this, of course.

I definitely will do my best to try and find it. Of course the name of the complex would be helpful, but I'm going to start searching now.

I sometimes miss my replies. I just saw this, and thank you. It was apparently in Westbrook Apartments I think now called Commons, in 1985. I have been asking everyone but my Aunt and this is who it happened to. But she doesn't remember anything anyway, so I really don't want to ask her. Her sister, my other Aunt knows more about it than anyone except their mother, but I surely don't want to make her relive that scene she walked into. So I asked my mother, she gave me some information, but I don't know how much she remembers because she was a drug addict so I was being raised by my Aunt and Grandparents. But that's what I have so far, Falls Church VA Westbrook Apt/Commons 1985, I believe it was semi-cold out, not hot. But that I am also not sure about lol. I'm picking at information, so I will add it as I get it. I don't know how to edit my posts, so I reply until I can figure it out....
