The Nelson County Sheriff's Office and Virginia State Police are investigating a shooting in the Nellysford area and say the shooter is still on the loose.

The shooting reportedly occurred near Rodes Valley Drive, though an exact location has not been identified by officials.

State troopers are setting up a perimeter.

Stoney Creek area residents are being advised to keep their exterior lights on and stay inside.

The victim was flown to the University of Virginia Health System, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Jay Roberts, the executive director of the Wintergreen Property Owners Association, told media partner Blue Ridge Life Magazine a woman in her mid-40s drove to the Wintergreen Fire Station in Stoney Creek.

The woman is reportedly not a resident of the Stoney Creek area.

At this time, there is no description of the suspect in this shooting.

I am glad she was able to get to the fire station to get help. Prayers for her survival and a speedy recovery.

Unfortunately, where they don't know who the suspect is, we don't know if this was a random act or personal. Makes it that much harder to find whoever did this.
