so you won't answer my question-you're the one who posed it! I think you're still mad at me about what i said about plastic surgeons and you got offended. I meant nothing negative about your father being a ps. I was just saying that there is a very high unsatisfaction rate. yet, I'm glad he can fix people. btw, I started this damn thread something like 7000 readers ago and i can write whatever i damn well please.

How does one "formally renounce Catholic Sacred Tradition?"

What does not being able to remove a valid baptism mean? Does this mean you are still some "lesser member" of the Church? It's pretty confusing to me.

Obviously, this would not be something I would be asking a relative. We don't "go there".

I assume the baptism I received as an infant was valid....
Wind, I think that you probably already have formally renounced the Catholic Church. Simply joining another church can be considered a formal renouncement. Excommunication is automatic in cases like this. No formal document is issued. The Catholic Church does not keep membership lists. So even if it was true that one could never "leave" the Catholic Church, it wouldn't matter except to maybe some other Catholics.

Too funny Ellen :D
Me either!!

Yeah this thread is dangerous wind lol lol I've still got one friend left though...Ellen Ellen you still here :p

If I was a [practicing] Catholic I'd be exhausted from trying to abide with all those rules and regulations too!

I'm still hear waiting for an answer to the question I asked. I'm not getting an answer. I think the only thing Jbean and I have in common is that we both liked the movie the notebook. other than that, we've got folks on here not minding their manners. well, there's got to be something good there if we both liked that movie. it was lovely.
Yes Narla, we'd be exhausted with all of the rules and regulations. i find that by simply praying in the shower in the morning, i get a lot done. i don't need to do it in a church and worry if i'm going to heaven or not. oh, i take that back, i'm jewish, so i'm not going to heaven anyway. damn. Oh, and in the Passion of the christ, we're a bunch of murderers. i should be banned from my own thread I started since i'm damned anyway. LOL!! and it sounds like everyone on this thread is saved. I'll burn in hell for sure.

Hi Dingo.
well, honestly, i mostly only been reading, I don't have strong feelings one way or the other about what other religions people choose. I generally keep my religion to myself.
but I have appreciated much of the controversy on this thread.

Ok, children, don't make me come in here with my ruler! :p

(Maybe I should sprinkle some holy water, as well!)

Narla, having faith is not quite as simplistic as just believing everything our church tells us. Yes, we believe in the doctrines of our faith. But accepting this faith requires more than just believing. It requires a lifelong struggle to understand it, to live it, and to practice it

Edited to add: Sandra, I wrote this before I read your excellent post. You pretty much said what I just did, only more eloquently.
Seriously though Maral, jokes aside.....I really am curious about the lifelong struggle bit.
Do you mean you struggle to believe what your church is telling you, and that you struggle trying to abide by all the rules etc
Just how do you mean struggle ?

Hey maybe I should ask Tis to talk to the Pope about making sure I get ex-communicated so I can stop harassing the Catholics...

"PULLEASE release me, let me go...."

Hi Narla,

I read your questions (thanks for answering my post) and I read everyones answers.

So now another question!

Was that it?

Did you have any other questions?

What were they?

p.s. Keep the dialogue going everyone

this is a very enlightening thread!
