If they were really concerned they would set everything to private.

How can you be social on social media if you've gone underground? Should we ban these people from the internet? They haven't been convicted of anything.

I'm social on social media without needing the world to see my business.

Why would anyone want to read a book written by someone who doesn't know anything and wasn't there and didn't ask questions?
I'd be more inclined to read a book about her and her child rearing techniques.

I guess that'd be found in the Fiction section.

I may have a different opinion of the value of Instagram as an inalienable right, but you've been on Reddit. You know no one is "safe" from abuse and trolls, and the more well known you are the worse it is. When I hear about them receiving death threats from organized groups like gamergate or something, I might be slightly sympathetic. Otherwise, they can block and mute and report just like the rest of us.

Just curious if anyone has read any of the canlii documents. I read that a diary was seized during the search of the Yukon. I don't think it was ever mentioned. Maybe just business related stuff and that's why it never came up.

Also, I have changed my mind about SB and a civil suit after reading about the settlements to some of Russell Williams victims. I think she should go for it.

R. v Millard & Smich, 2015 ONSC 6437 (CanLII) - October, 2015 - both defense teams try to have mention of the toolbox and the Eliminator excluded. It also includes these tidbits:

On his arrest, Millard was in possession of latex gloves. Bosma’s DNA is on the outside of one of the gloves. Noudga admitted wearing the gloves when she was assisting Millard in removing items of evidence from the hangar on May 9, 2013.

As a result of police searches, a note with the names and addresses of Bosma, Tumemenko and Palmili were found at the hangar with handwriting that has been matched to Millard’s.

R. v Millard and Smich, 2015 ONSC 6704 (CanLII) - excludes some of what DM said to police (unspecified) when they visited the hangar, notes he was nervous and that they verified his middle name and tattoo

R v Millard & Smich, 2015 ONSC 6633 (CanLII) - questions MS's arrest, details how he was identified as a suspect, his arrest (and injuries), and the search of his mom's house; also mentions a prior seized phone and that more than one gun had been stolen from the house:

On February 23rd, 2013 Dellen MILLARD and his girlfriend Christina NOUDGA (92/04/26) were stopped and searched at the Rainbow Bridge crossing into Canada. There [sic] vehicle had a strong odour of marihuana. MILLARD had two cell phones on him, one IPhone 4 and one Samsung Galaxy. He was asked to unlock the IPhone as it was locked and MILLARD refused. As a result the IPhone was seized.

Another text to a cell phone contact labeled “Juice” stated that “Maple Gate just got robbed” and the “gats are gone.” Gat is street slang for guns.

BBM - I started reading them last night. I had taken a break from this case since the verdicts, but am now trying to get caught up again.

I'm very curious about the mention of DM trying to cross the border in 2012. Makes it sound like he was denied entry (into the US, I assume) and that some sort of report was made regarding what he had with him. IIRC, in one of DM's letters to CN he wrote about MS not being able to cross the border and them having to turn around. Wonder what the whole story is.

There is also mention of him having trackable GPS devices. Wonder who/what he was keeping tabs on.

[72] Turning specifically to the July 10, 2013 warrant, in my view, the ITO contained reasonable grounds to believe that Millard and Smich possessed and used technology. For instance, the ITO provided that:

a) Millard used a cell phone. He had a cell phone on him when he was arrested on May 10, 2013. He also had two phones when he tried to cross the border in 2012. He used his phone to communicate with other people. Millard contacted his employees by cell phone on May 7, 2013 telling them to stay away from the hangar.

...

e) Millard used GPS tracking devices. He had bought two GTU tracking units that one could log into using a computer.

Thank you to everyone pointing out the canlii information that has been put back online.

[37] Here, police looked at the types of data they told Justice of the Peace Ross they would examine. Further, there is simply no evidence that police were simply rummaging through the phone in search of evidence of other crimes. Evidence was secured by the search in relation to the charge of murder. Although, police actually found evidence of other crimes I agree with the Crown that evidence of joint participation in other crimes is relevant in this case. Evidence that Smich and Millard collaborated in other crimes is compelling circumstantial evidence that they trusted each other. Were one inclined to steal a truck and kill its owner, one could conclude that any collaborators would have to be trusted. That these men trusted each other makes it more probable they would likely pick each other as collaborators in the theft from and killing of Bosma.

Here, they had trouble crossing the border returning to Canada:

On February 23rd, 2013 Dellen MILLARD and his girlfriend Christina NOUDGA (92/04/26) were stopped and searched at the Rainbow Bridge crossing into Canada. Thanks Lexi! Looks like the judge meant to write 2013 in the ruling I cited.

I wonder what other kind of trouble DM and CN got into together. IMO it further adds credence to the idea that CN fully knew what was up on May 9th/10th. I think what the judge wrote about DM and MS (which you quoted in your previous post) also holds true for DM and CN. DM knew he could trust her.

(I have a bad habit of adding commas where none are required - I hope you don't think I was trying to correct you, jash. I thought it was another incident.)

I agree with you about CN.

Lets see if I can do this the right way this time. A diary among numerous other items were seized from the Yukon, but I don't remember it being mentioned

As result of the search, numerous items including a key to Bosma’s truck, instructions for the Eliminator, a diary and a GPS device were seized.

No they haven't been convicted of anything, that's the problem. The trial saw a parade of witnesses that admitted to breaking the law numerous times, and none of them have faced any sort of consequences. If they are going to lead any sort of public life on the net, they better get used to being harassed as they certainly deserve it. I've got no sympathy for these people and neither should anyone else.

Just thinking about the GPS's. He may have bought them for his own vehicles. I have a couple of friends that put GPS's on their own vehicles in case they were stolen. The irony is not lost on me.

AM has a couple of photos on his Instagram where you can clearly see his infamous Baja tattoo. If I didn't wish to be aligned with DM, I might have that tattoo removed, or at least not linked to my public profile. I might take photos of guns, shells & shooting off there as well.
