Taurus in da house. :rocker: May 18!

Today's planetary aspetvs:

"Persuasive and powerful writing and speaking is emphasized today. Mercury/Pluto can connect with the masses in a very intense way, and since this trine is in earth signs, it can unearth and present “loaded” or deep psychological material in a very down-to-earth fashion. It’s a good day for research, solving mysteries, and generally getting to the bottom of things."

Watching to hear how the jurors are dressed when they arrive today. Not hearing anyone mention that on CNN. In past trials, most jurors dressed up a little more on day they gave verdict.

Just checking in on everyone for today. :seeya:

I signed up for WAT & the other (cbs?) local station that is doing text message verdict results......I don't get an abundance of text messages & last night around 7pm EST, when I did get one I nearly tripped trying to get to my phone to see if it was a verdict text.

Perhaps I'll get to trip over myself today :panic:

Justice for Travis!

JVM read text from Beth that Mitigation specialist is at the courthouse. Beth asked her if she was there on another case and she shook her head no.

Bring on the food Tex because were going to need it.

JA's mitigation specialist just showed up in court. When asked if she was there for somebody else, she replied no.

I sure hope this means M1.

If they reached a verdict late yesterday, why not?

They have repeatedly said there will be a ONE HOUR lead time between announcement a verdict has been reached and them actually announcing it.

Why have the jury sit there for an hour waiting??

But then as I said, it's just my opinion.

Corun - they aren't going to be there until 10:00 AZ time. An hour later than yesterday...HTH

Supporters of murderers (aka as seen through Jodi/Donovan's tweetage) really exacerbate when the guilty verdict is about to come down and exacerbates for about 2 weeks after the verdict is rendered. I've seen it in every trial I've followed.

Just a little Public Service Announcement.

;)

There are also just Debbie Downers who thrive on bringing doom and gloom to every gathering and ruining the party with morbid thoughts and horrible statements.

Instead of letting that create doubts that spread like disease, it's best to ignore them.

Oh my...speculating on HLN about MG specialist (or as posted here Wilmott in the house) being there this morning. JVM said Beth Karas going to investigate. Jeez, can someone hold my hand please...nerves frayed at the thought

*hugs!* true that surviving the treatment is the real badge of honor! My daughter was almost 3 at the time, and I never let her see that I was sick. The best is DEFINITELY yet to come! Sorry that you had to experience this too! :(

I was in my early thirties when I was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor (Grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma) I am now 38. After total resection and 6 weeks of chemo/radiation simultaneously and a full year of chemotherapy, it has not returned...

Treatment almost did me in... I remember being curled up in a ball in my closet so my kids could not see me, begging for God to either take me home, or make it stop... it was HORRIBLE

On top of that, my youngest daughter (who was a heart transplant patient, recently passed away.) was in PICU 3 months straight during that year... I was the only one that could be with her (husband needed to work)
Being nauseous, weak and sick as a dog from chemo in PICU is not anything I want to experience again....

I know that premediation has been proven to us but has it to the jury (do they remember the details and are they researching areas that they are in a 'fog' about).
Juries are people and that makes me nervous.

Juan, Jennifer and JA all walked off elevator together...don't take my word for it (yet) but we may have a verdict #JusticeForTravis

I have a very long dentist appointment at 1:30...supposed to last 1.5 hours (crown prep), so I can almost guarantee that our verdict will be reached and read at some point while I am helplessly caught in the chair with a spit straw hanging out of my mouth and a drill destroying one of my teeth, and no way to access websleuths.

I hope you are all happy with the sacrifice I am making so you can celebrate the guilty verdict early this afternoon.

:please:
:banghead::banghead:

I have tests at my dr if no verdict no test lol

I don't know if anyone else is thinking of Jeffrey MacDonald's trial as we wait for the verdict. I can't help seeing similarities: brutal murder, no witnesses, a lot of nonsense from the defense to draw attention away from the physical evidence.

I've always thought that the closing argument in that case was a masterpiece of rhetoric. This excerpted quote, in particular, seems appropriate to remember in this case:

"I suggest to you, ladies and gentlemen, that if you prove to you that that was MacDonald's footprint in type A blood...then it doesn't make any difference if there were 5,000 hippies outside Castle Drive at 4:00 in the morning...it doesn't matter what was going on outside unless they can tie that in to the inside...I can only tell you from the physical evidence in this case that things do not lie, but I suggest that people can and do lie."

We all have our own theories that may or may not agree with the Prosecution's description of the sequence of events. Some may disagree that Travis was stabbed, then shot. Others might think that there was no consensual sex and that the whole scene was staged. Given the fact the some cleaning was attempted and that significant time elapsed between the murder and the discovery of the the body, it would be extremely surprising if JM and Dr. Horn got everything exactly right.

In a case like this, there will always be things that can't be explained. Why would Jodi wait so long to kill Travis? Why use a knife at all? Why leave the camera and the memory card behind? While we can speculate, and I'm sure the jury is puzzled by some of these decisions, the only real issue is premeditation. If Jodi planned the murder then there's no need to understand how or why she carried it out the way that she did. The evidence for premeditation is overwhelming and the only explanations are given by a defendant who is known to be dishonest. She wasn't just lying out of panic in the days following the murder. She lied over the course of years to anyone who would listen, and embellished her story with more details as time went by. She did it with the same earnest voice that she used when she told the jury that she only shot Travis in self-defense...because he was in a murderous rage...because she dropped a $200 camera...2 feet...on to a bathmat.

I don't know what process the jury has adopted, so I have no idea if they'll address premeditation first, last or somewhere in between. In the end, they'll get to the point where they realize that Jodi planned the trip and came prepared to kill Travis and the verdict will reflect that determination.

Let not your hearts be troubled.

If anyone has ever appreciated my brazen opinions and courtroom observations could you please find a way to email me that dancing Simplicity girl? I saved it but it only came as a photo, not the dancing part. I need this so badly to share with someone. Thank you! [email protected] (will it transfer to Facebook doing that?)

I uploaded it to tinypic.com. This is the email link: http://tinypic.com/r/4sy0le/5

It's mesmerizing isn't it!

The other Salinas Walmart didn't open until 2010. It's preposterous to say Juan should anticipate every potential lie this sleazy defense team might tell.

He handled it properly, he reminded the jury that Jodi said on cross she returned it to the SAME Walmart under cross.

I feel completely satisfied JM covered all the bases concerning the gas cans.. What goes through my mind is the conversation Jodi had with her Mother offering up proof that she was not in AZ. She was the one to bring up receipts regarding gas purchases. I wouldn't expect that kind of proof, speaking of her Mother. That would be the last kind of proof one would expect her to have. She was prepared with proof and those receipts were saved for that reason. The third receipts was destroyed to support her "Proof" IMO

Re: Dr. Horn.......I am sure he did not type up that report. He is a doctor, not an administrative assistant. He clearly admitted it was a typo and IMO was quite embarrassed about it. Does NOT make his a liar. He has no agenda other than performing autopsies. So why in the world would someone fault him considering ALV did not even write a report and changed he mind repeatedly or Samuals who repeatedly regraded tests til he got them to back up his craziness. Or the other guy....who has never conducted or even seen an autopsy.

I fault him for not reading his report more thoroughly before testifying. Thank goodness for the astute juror whose question allowed him to somewhat straighten it out. That was totally an unforced error imo, and one JW was obviously going to run with prior to that question. Jeff Gold on HLN suggested that egregious error might explain why the DT didn't call their own ME to rebut DrH. Geffner's unqualified testimony about the dura mater being intact might have been enough to create a wavering juror or two.
