Truly a trendsetter and an inspiration for so many cutters who followed him, famous or not.

RIP

(Thanks to Kat for the notice! Will a Mod please change the thread title to correct spelling of Sassoon? tia)

Rest in Peace. (I had his wedge cut hairstyle in the mid 70's)

And so famous WAS that fabulous cut! From what I've just researched, Dorothy Hamill's famous wedge cut was inspired by Vidal.

This hairstyle was invented in 1974 by Trevor Sorbie, one of Vidal Sassoon's stylists; he did not create this haircut specifically for Dorothy Hamill, as has been popularly thought.

My fav cutter back in the day was Gene Shacove, who worked miracles on my fine hair many times.

(Just tagging your post to give him his due, too.)

They don't make 'em like that anymore, Vidal or Gene or Jon...THOSE were the days!

Please forgive the indulgence.

Rest In Peace, Vidal...you left a strong mark on the industry and many of your patrons still remember you to this day, as you earned and deserved.
