Did anyone investigate the gun used in the Daytona murders? It was a population law enforcement pistol for that time period.

I’m pretty sure the gun has never been found (please correct me if I’m wrong).

Police had an idea of the type of weapon used and got a list of sales at local gun stores. At that time police interviewed Hayes and said he had given the gun to his mom (mom later denied that claim at trial). A year or so after that initial interview Hayes then reported the gun stolen then. I’m sure that gun is as good as gone… prob in the water between the barrier island.
