Police searching for missing mother and son

Looks like Somerset is a ghost town and has a population of about 2 people according to Wikipedia! Somerset, Vermont - Wikipedia The area is very rural. Hopefully they'll be found safe.

Do they have cellphones with them? Could it be tracked?

No foul play suspected, but concerns for their welfare? Strange. Its not even been 24 hours. Could just be out for drive?

I wonder who reported them missing at 9:30 PM and why? There are many agencies involved in the search so LE is taking this case seriously. Were they supposed to return home the same day?

Bennington VT to Somerset VT, the distance is about 21.4 miles. Google Maps

Looks like the Somerset Reservoir has no cottages, so maybe that's why it's concerning that Allison and James didn't come home, they probably didn't have tents/sleeping bags with them and were expected to come home the same day they left. If this is the case, I would be concerned too. MOO.

Original post says they are not avid hikers. Should it then be presumed they went missing while hiking? Hiking or walking in the reservoir area? It’s just not clear (to me) if they were last seen hiking or driving.

Located safe.

Early Sunday evening, two hikers in the area of the Somerset Reservoir encountered Allison Passage and James Lake in the woods. The hikers called police and remained with Allison and James, who appeared to be unharmed. The hikers waited with Allison and James until search and rescue crews were able to reach them.

At about 10:15 p.m., Allison and James were escorted successfully from the area, ultimately emerging from the woods near Vermont Route 9 more than 5 miles from the command post, and were being evaluated by Deerfield Valley Rescue.

The U.S. Forest Service and Vermont National Guard also aided in the search and rescue effort.

Bless those hikers that found Allison and James, called police, and stayed with them until SR crews got there! I'm so glad they were found!
