Vermont police seeking missing murderer who fled furlough
Vermont State Police, local police and federal agents were searching for William Wheelock, 55, a convicted murderer who fled from furlough eight days after he was released from prison, police said Thursday.


Vermont State Police, local police and federal agents were searching for William Wheelock, 55, a convicted murderer who fled from furlough eight days after he was released from prison, police said Thursday.
- He was last seen Wednesday getting into a car in Bellows Falls after removing an electronic monitoring device.
- Wheelock was convicted of 2nd-degree murder in 1987 and sentenced to 21 to 99 years.
- He was released on furlough Jan 28 and living in transitional housing in Bellows Falls.
- Wheelock fled in a vehicle with two or three other people. The car was last seen heading north on U.S. Route 5.
- Wheelock is white, 6'2" tall and about 215 pounds. He has blue eyes, thinning gray hair, and “666” tattooed on his left eyelid. He has ties to Springfield, Massachusetts.
