WA - 3 children, ages 13, 9 and 7, among 5 killed inside Fall City home, 15 y.o. in custody - 21 October 2024

His name has been released.

AH faces five counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder in connection with Monday's rampage in the unincorporated community of Fall City, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Something must have been going down in the middle of the night if the father and brother were both found in the hallway. Otherwise I'd think they'd be found in their beds. Or, at least one of them, perhaps the other went into the hallway after hearing the first shots. Although... perhaps the mother was shot first, the dad tried to run, and the sound of shots fired brought the brother out of his bedroom to see what was going on. Otherwise, I can't think of why they'd be in the hallway if it's just before 5am.

Sheriff's Office Detective Aaron Thompson said in the "certification for probable cause" accompanying the charges that based on the evidence it appears the 15-year-old “systematically murdered” his family members, attempted to murder his surviving sister, and “staged the scene prior to the arrival of first responders” to make it appear that his younger brother had committed the murders and then killed himself.

The accused “then further perpetuated the false staging by repeatedly telling the 911 dispatcher” that his younger brother was responsible. Investigators found the gun in the hand of the decreased 13-year-old. Dispatchers received 911 calls from the accused, and shortly after from neighbors at the house where the sister fled.
Pure evil!!

Fathers work is 35 minutes from their home maybe the son waited for the father to get up to go to work then shot him.

The 11-year-old, as stated by documents, later told law enforcement the 15-year-old was the only one who knew the combination to her father’s Glock lockbox. Also, the 15-year-old had recently gotten into “a lot of trouble” for failing some tests at school.

Prosecutors asked the judge for a hearing on June 4, 2025 where both parties will provide evidence, and the judge will ultimately make the decision on whether or not the case will be moved to adult court, which has different sentencing guidelines.

Furthermore, it appears the suspect attempted to stage the scene before police arrived to make it seem as if one of his brothers had done it. During their search, police found another Glock handgun in 13-year-old Benjamin's left hand that was lying on his chest, according to a statement of probable cause.

Interesting that he had "gotten into a lot of trouble" recently when his lie to the 911 Operator was this:

He told 911 operators his younger brother shot his family and himself after "he had been caught looking at p o r n o graphy the night before, and that he was about to get in a lot of trouble," according to court docs.

Why even tell 911 that? I just find it interesting that the surviving sibling said he'd gotten into "a lot of trouble" recently... then the same words are used with 911, only about "P", and not failing school tests. And getting into a lot of trouble is NO reason to take out the entire family. Sounds like he went for them all, and not their pets, since they are looking for foster their pets out (saw it stated upthread).

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed> I don't know if we'll ever know what elements factored into what this kid did. Even if he starts talking, there's no way to ever know if what he says is true, or more lies like the ones he tried to convince the 911 dispatch of. My hope is, it's ruled he be tried as an adult, and his sister can live without fear of him getting out and finishing what he started.

Maybe she was asked on the call if something had happened that might make her brother angry enough to shoot family?

(Like was there the possibility he'd fire at officers also? Had there been abuse or something? And so trying to determine any info that might help with response as units and medics arrived?)

News interviews with neighbors have said the kids were always outside playing. The family seemed extremely social as a large portion of the neighborhood seemed to know them well. Mental illness isn’t always apparent, or easily recognizable. It has been stated they were very religious but unclear what religion they followed

Maybe this one,

I listened to the 911 calls which I believe helps gain perspective on some of the statements reported. I trust common sense guides that the injured 11 yr old was responding to rapid fire questions during a very critical moment when police were responding to a mass shooting. All my opinion only:
  • Alleged Shooter believes all family members are deceased-- including his 11 year old sister when he phones 911.
  • Sister escaped from her bedroom window after pretending she was dead but not before viewing/identifying the Shooter checking the bodies necks for signs of life in the hallway.
  • Alleged Shooter phones 911 and tells dispatch his younger brother killed his family, and then committed suicide. Younger brother hung himself in the bathroom? Family are hiding in the bathroom? Caller is located in a separate bathroom? Calls details unclear.
  • While Caller/Shooter clarifying details with 911 Dispatcher, unbeknownst to the Alleged Shooter, his surviving sister arrives at a neighbor's house and calls 911 to report her family members shot by her older brother.
  • While Police enroute to target house, 911 Dispatch begins trying to discern details from competing callers. (i.e., Who's the true suspect)?
  • Sister confirms 15 yr old brother was still alive when she escaped. 13 yr old brother was dead in the hallway (not hanging in a bathroom).
  • Sister confirms vehicles at the house and their location. Confirm brother does not drive.
  • Police begin arriving at crime scene and change the staging area to rear of property following revised info from 2nd caller (Sister's details).
  • Alleged Shooter/Caller tells 911 Dispatch he has his Phone in his hand and his location.
  • Responder -- We have 2 bodies downstairs
  • Responder -- 3 Down.
  • Responder -- He has a gun in his hand (we now know this was staged on 13 yr old).
  • One in custody.

Agreed.

Attempting to blame the younger brother shows a great deal of forethought and cunning.
Sickening.
Omo.
At the very least it shows he knew right from wrong, in the attempt to cover himself & place blame elsewhere.

Defense and prosecution will give their next update at a status meeting on Jan. 8, 2025. There will be an arraignment hearing only after the judge makes a decision on court jurisdiction for the case.

McNerthney told King5 that KCPAO has not had any previous cases with this teen, which is unusual for “these kinds of allegations.”

It could be as simple as the father was up that early getting ready for work. And if the statements that the shooter had been caught watching p the night before and got in serious trouble he could have been up all night seething in anger and confronted dad early in the morning.

I would love to learn more about the family dynamic. What causes a 15 year old to annihilate his family? My heart breaks for the young survivor. I hope she receives all the love and therapy she needs.

One detail I have not heard discussed here is that the surviving sister said the father's Glock was silver yet the police say the shooter staged a black Glock on the 13 year old brother. And police knew something was up because it HAD NOT BEEN FIRED!

Now, the color of the gun is not significant but in order for the staged gun not to have been fired there would have had to have been 2 guns in the house. That leads to other potential scenarios.
