GIG HARBOR, Wash — Five people are dead, including the suspect, after what authorities say was a protection order violation near Gig Harbor that escalated into a stabbing in the street and an exchange of gunfire with deputies, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).

The incident occurred in the 14000 block of 87th Avenue Court Northwest.

Authorities said the initial call came in at 8:41 a.m. as an “order violation in progress.” The sheriff’s office said an adult man went to the home despite a no-contact order against him. Deputies later confirmed the order was not valid because it had not yet been served.

I was figuring this was going to be another domestic violence case of a disgruntled ex targeting his former partner and her family, but that doesn't appear to be the case. From the video in this article -

According to a protection order served on a 32 year old man at the home last year, the family members were concerned about the man's behaviour which included him doing witchcraft, hurting the family cat which he believed was an egyptian god, and doing rituals inside the home which were setting off the smoke detectors.

The home appears to have had three generations of russians living there, an interpreter was called into the court to translate during the first protective order.

It's an act of domestic violence, even if it wasn't by an ex-partner.
