The couple got into an argument and Nava-Garibay said he brought her into the garage to kill her. The 30-year-old woman came to check on them, but the suspect immediately pushed her down.

The younger woman had autism spectrum disorder with the mental capacity of a 5-year-old, so she was unable to fight back, according to court documents.

He was booked into the Adams County Jail, the sheriff’s office said. He appeared in Adams County Superior Court on Friday and is being held on $1 million bond, according to the ACSO.

The sheriff’s office will continue to provide updates on the investigation as they are appropriate. Many details will not be presented on social media “due to the nature of the case,” the sheriff’s office said.
