''According to a Facebook post by the King County Sheriff’s Office, “Barbara McClure was last seen walking home from the Fandango Disco inside the Sirloin Inn at the Lake Forest Park Shopping Center on November 2, 1978.”
The sheriff’s office stated that Barbara went to the disco with a co-worker, and they met up with other friends there. “Witnesses reported that Barbara had a verbal argument with her co-worker, and she said that she would walk home,” the post notes. “She ended up walking home, despite her friends trying to give her a ride.”
The post continues, saying Barbara was last seen by a friend walking in the 16500 block of Bothell Way NE. She was headed in the direction of her Seattle residence, which was about five miles away from the disco.
“Barbara was reported missing the next day by her roommate.”

''Barbara was 24 years old in 1978. She was 5’5”, 120 lbs., with blue eyes and dark brown hair. She would be 70 years old today.
According to the King County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, Barbara was “last seen wearing rust-colored corduroy pants; wide striped rust & green blouse; short black leather jacket; tan mid-calf boots with 2” heel and a brown cloth purse with shoulder strap.”

Barbara McClure went missing November 2, 1978 while walking home from Fandango Disco in Lake Forest Park, Washington. The only evidence that was found was her license 5 days later about 5 miles away in the vicinity of I5-I405. She was a single parent of a 2 year old daughter and divorcee. Her father, Ray Anderson was a well known builder in the Edmonds area, and one of the founding members of Westgate Chapel. She worked at the Olympia Hotel in Seattle and lived in a home in Lake Forest Park. She was eventually declared dead, but no body was ever found or any trace of violence in her home or on the way home from Fandango's. Her daughter, Jamey McClure Stupey, is trying to find answers but is getting stonewalled by the police who continue to say the case is open and can't show her anything, although it looks like a very minimal investigation took place.

Her drivers license being found 10 miles from where she was last seen makes me think she might've gotten into a car with someone after all. 10 miles is a long walk, and it doesn't make sense that she would go that far if her house was only 5 miles away. Going with the car theory, Barbara could've thrown her license out as a sort of evidence trail or it could've been tossed out by the driver.
The discovery of the licence is odd and has generated questions:
Just six days later on November 8th, Barbara’s driver’s license was recovered about 10 miles away from where she was last seen, laying on the access road of I-5 and HWY 405. Some, including Det. John Free with the King County Sheriff’s Office, have several questions about the ID and how it got there. One of Barbara’s nieces who was seven at the time, believes it was placed there intentionally.
