WA WA - Brock Holmes, 23, Monroe, 7 Oct 2009

  • #21
Brock was featured on The Vanished podcast back in 2020: EPISODE 208: Brock Holmes — The Vanished Podcast

Listening to his mother on that podcast just broke my heart. This seems like another case that should have been relatively easy to solve, but for some reason it just hasn't been. It seems likely that the people who were with Brock the night he vanished know something, and I hope someone decides to talk soon.

Holmes, circa 2009

Date of Birth 04/12/1985

<<Caucasian male. Red hair, blue eyes. Holmes's tongue and right eyebrow are pierced.>>

<<Holmes was last seen in Sultan, Washington on October 7, 2009. He and some friends played pool at Bubba's Roadhouse Bar & Grill, then went to the Dutch Cup Restaurant.

The last time he used his cellular phone was at 6:30 p.m. He reportedly left a friend's house in the 24700 block of Florence Acres Road at around midnight to walk three or four miles to his own home in the 28100 block of Old Owen Road, although some unidentified friends were supposed to give him a ride.

Holmes never arrived home and has never been heard from again. He had been drinking on the night of his disappearance, and it's possible he injured herself during his walk home. Holmes was carrying his cellular phone, his iPod mp3 player, a pool stick and some cash at the time of his disappearance. None of these items has been found.

Holmes lived with his father in Skagit, Washington during high school, but he moved back in with his mother and teenage sister in Sultan in May 2009, five months before his disappearance. He worked at a Chevron gas station on U.S. 2, and he was looking forward to getting a driver's license. His mother stated he was happy with his life, enjoyed his job and was not having any problems.>>

I am from this area, and while injury on the way home is not unlikely, what IS unlikely is that no one discovered him. This is a frequented area. Foul play is more likely- either hit and cover-up or something else. I cannot believe no one in this small town has any information on his disappearance.

I agree that foul play is most likely.

Brock had reportedly been drinking, but nothing above says he was drunk to the point of incapacitation or injury. So I'm confident that if he said he was walking 3 miles home, and no one objected, then it's because he was able to do so.

On Google Maps, the area looks fairly residential, but some parts look like they're densely covered by trees, which unfortunately would be ideal places to hide a body. Personally, I don't think I'd feel comfortable walking through here at midnight. If the area wasn't searched properly, then he simply could've been missed.

I doubt it was a hit-and-run though. In that scenario, it's easier and faster for the driver to just keep going, rather than dispose of the body and potentially leave evidence behind, either on the body, the street, or inside the car.
