'VANCOUVER, Wash. (KATU) — Detectives in Clark County are still seeking answers in a night clerk's death from four decades ago.
Catherine Dawes was found dead at the then Minit Mart on 10409 S.E. Mill Plain Rd. on Jan. 18, 1982. Her body was discovered by sheriff's deputies in the back of the Minit Mart after the store had closed for the night.'
'Detective Michael Ramon, who has been investigating the case, described the scene.
"She has a towel around her head and has been shot in the side of the head by a gun," he said.'
'Catherine's pants had also been ripped up the seam. Ramon says Catherine took a job at the Minit Mart over the Christmas period to buy presents for her children. '
''DNA tests later showed Catherine was not raped. Ramon believes the owner of those gloves knows what happened to Catherine.
"It’s very unique gloves. So someone might remember someone who owned gloves like that," he said. "The thing that bothers me the most about this case is how did this helmet get there?''
Two different witnesses gave a description to a sketch artist. They both seemingly described two different men.
