After much back and forth in my mind my best bet is now an acquaintance, neighbor, or colleague, who passed by, offered her a ride back home, and then probably pulled a gun once she was in the car. Maybe he had a crush on her or had some grievance, or something. He killed her in a remote location, left her hidden in his car, and at night dumped her. As far as I know none of the facts rule this scenario out or make it highly unlikely.

I think she sent the text....I believe she knew who killed her, or at least was an acquaintance.... I think she pulled over as someone else had previously mentioned to look for her badge, saw she did not have it, texted from that parking spot and was approached right there in her car. I don't know what ploy they used, but I do believe they got her to get into their vehicle and drove away, giving them control of her once they got her to a secluded area. IMHO

I wonder if anyone on the street where her car was found has cameras on their house.

The library is on that street, about a half block north of where her car was. There is a civic center nearby, too. I keep hoping they all have cameras and that they take in the street.

I have hopes for some residences, too, though I have no knowledge. But maybe some have cameras due to the park being right there. Rumor has it that druggies and others hang there sometimes.

Maybe... But if it seemed innocent, it seems she would have told carpoolers about the meeting...and within a blink of an eye, it seems, the phone is no longer active.

They haven't said - that I know of - but it seems they would have cell records by this time of all incoming and outgoing and network activity.

I feel like Cheryl could have been me. Or virtually any of my girlfriends...

BBM In my experience (20+ years as a telecommunications paralegal) subpoenas/search warrants for telecoms to turn over call records usually have a 30 day response requirement. Sometimes as much as 6 weeks is given to respond, even in criminal matters. Because of this I would highly doubt that LE has any call detail records yet.

I don't think we will hear from her carpool friends. I would think that LE has asked those close to the investigation to keep their mouths shut. That's pretty common.

Thanks for the reminder! So, hopefully they can see when the car pulled up, if not who was driving. That could confirm MD's story and rule him out, perhaps.

Investigators say the area is a crime scene and the death is suspicious, but they do not believe residents should be concerned for their safety.

The commander of Snohomish County Search and Rescue said that in the search for evidence on Tuesday, authorities are working in a grid, sifting the creek and crawling under the culvert.
.........
Yes, it doesn't leave any other theory except murder does it.

I think she was murdered. Perhaps they don't have all the pieces yet to solve the murder, or have it go to trial yet.
IMOO.

Does that imply "We got a general picture of what happened" ?

Or does it mean "We don't know nada" ?

With the extra word "Exactly", I think they do know some things.
IMOO.

Now reading this article, it kinda makes you think that police don't know when and how she died...
Do they have an idea of whom and why? IMOO.

Searchers were (Snipped by me...) "looking for evidence that might help police determine when and how the woman died."

And also this article mentions that a body was found "partially inside" the culvert.

I think that statement from Cmdr Rickard last night about not knowing what happened alluded to their waiting on the autopsy results. This morning, he said the autopsy was now completed, and they were waiting for the medical examiner's report. I am wondering so hard if they have the report yet, and if it points at something in particular - but LE has to have their ducks in a row before they say too much publicly. They are well aware of the interest within the community. I imagine they are carefully figuring out what evidence they have that supports the autopsy (or maybe the autopsy suggested other things for LE to look for, hence closing off the area again) or if there is anyone implicated at this point. I bet by this point they do have a good idea of what happened but are making sure everything is as much in order as possible before they speak publicly.

I am definitely on pins and needles, though I do believe Rickard's statement that there is no need for the community to be afraid.

Required to wait 30 days or required to comply within 30 days? I just can't see any reason any provider would purposely wait 30 seconds, in an investigation such as this. Their customer is dead. LE calling it under suspicious circumstances. Seems to me that's all it would need for the deceased customer's records to be handed over.
