Hmm... Is there a murderer targeting women in their 50s, near water, in the general area? This could be far-fetched.

Hmmm....

It also happened on a Monday, and she was found in water. Maybe it's not so farfetched, but it is unusual. How often do we hear about a number of 50-something mom's vanishing and being found in water?

"The cause and manner of Humble’s death are pending, the medical examiner said."

Was it written off as a bizarre suicide? Does anyone have more information?

Not often AT ALL! I wish there was more information about Marianne. I'm thinking her thread needs to come alive again.

Maybe a 20-30 year old man who targeted women his mother's age because he harbored a hatred for his own mother?

If the two are connected, I wonder if it's sexually motivated. Perhaps they end up in water to wash away evidence.

People don't often think of sexual assault with this age group, but sexual assault isn't usually about sex.*

*even if it was, people of all ages are sexual.

This murder is very bizarre, and, when combined with a similar case 27 miles away, it's more bizarre. I wonder if police are looking at other similar cases in the area and that is in some way connected with the caution for people to be careful.

And the same juristiction?!? No cause or manner of death released in Marianne's case either. A busy month for the ME and perhaps an uncomfortable similarity for the coroner?

If moms in their 50s are being targeted, I think someone has some really serious issues with a mom. Additionally, the perp has enough knowledge about criminal investigation to know that water is good for removing evidence.

Different jurisdictions. Which, if connected, might make sense. The perp might want to move around a bit to *try* to avoid anyone noticing the pattern.

ETA - sorry, I was thinking LE jurisdiction, not coroner.

Pretty sure it was reported Cheryl was clothed.

I hope there's not another disappearance on March 7.

Could she have been walking towards her commuting location, then realized she hadn't her work ID, texted her friend, then on approach back to her car, was forced into the passenger seat? The perp could have then drove off with her, killed her, disposed of her, and then drove her car back, long before the husband got a call.

Or, could she have texted her friend, then made it home, found someone breaking into her house, and was then assaulted? Oh, but wasn't the phone disabled at near
the park & ride.

If it isn't someone close to her, I am thinking possibly the former of your theories. The only reason I can think of for a perp to return the car near the park n ride after leaving her at the culvert would be to slow down the search for her by trying to make LE think she could've caught a bus, or because the perp wanted to jump on a bus or jump into another car (so parked her car out of range of cameras).

Something still isn't adding up.

I wonder if the blood in the passenger seat happened after she was deceased? Cheryl was in the passenger seat while the perp drove to dispose of the body.

Not to be morbid but there are over three million people in Seattle and the surrounding areas, murder is almost an everyday occurrence around here. Slim chance they are related, in my opinion.

Re: Marianne:

"The cause of death was fresh water drowning, the office said, but the manner of death was “undetermined.” Authorities said that means they don’t know if it was an accident or a suicide. But homicide was ruled out."

For unspecified reasons, Marianne Humble's death is not considered suspicious.

http://www.monroemonitor.com/2016/0...d-in-snohomish-river-as-missing-monroe-woman/

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the cause of death in the case of 53-year-old Marianne Humble to be fresh water drowning. The manner of death is undetermined at this time.
...
The case is still under investigation. Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office detectives do not believe the death is suspicious.

I agree that it's a slim chance. But I don't think it's completely ridiculous to consider, at all.

Maybe LE has other texts, etc to suggest this was a personal crime as opposed to a random one.

Shaking.

I can't imagine living there, walking my dogs, knowing someone was murdered, and that killer is still out there.

Yes I know there are killers everywhere, and I probably have walked right beside them, but if I think too much about it, I'll just become a hermit and never leave home.

My prayers continue for the family, for the detectives and each department involved in this case. May there be resolution soon.

Poor Cheryl. Waking up, thinking it was another day, getting ready for work, and then, WHAM, blindsided, and life ending.

Thinking I need to take a deep breath and regroup. For whatever reason this case is bothering me. That usually happens when it's small kids, but this is really upsetting.

Peace and love!!! If only the whole world could be believe in Peace and Love and Respect! We don't have the right to take someone's life. Random killers just truly scare me. I think that's why in cases we'll see people say, "but they were into drugs" "they were this and that" it isn't to blame the victim as much to protect their own mind that it won't happen to them. Problem is....we're all targets. No matter age, sex, social class, where we live, where we work, married or not, babies to elderly, all targets.

Cheryl, I hope you were religious and are in Heaven, having no idea about all that's happening here now. I hope your memories never fade, and last a lifetime to your loved ones. Your work here is done. Rest now.
