law enforcement in the family presser said she walked down that path....also the police officer said the park and ride fills up around 7am and people park on that street. her family also said she often parks there and walks down the path. also, the officer mentioned theyve had criminal activity in that park and people camp out there. he said "its a park, it attracts people" or something to that effect. i feel so bad for her family, especially her Mom :(

Apologies for interrupting the flow, but if someone has Steelman's map with all the locations bookmarked, could you post the link? TIA! :tyou:

But did you hear it said by the LE or by the MSM? If it was only by the MSM we know how they can distort things so many times. I have nothing to doubt the family statement which is not hearsay. We coud see and listen to them speaking and saying it in the press conference in a very truthfull way in my opinion.
I'm a little behind so ignore me if this has been said.

I thought we established that Cheryl didn't intend to take the bus AT FIRST. But once she realized she forgot her badge, she decided to. No?

family presser was posted. in the video, the family said law enforcement/media was incorrect in their statement about the bus. it was never said. law enforcement then followed them up in the video to continue answering questions.

I said I would be surprised if I found out that CD made it a habit in the AM to walk down the mildly creepy, unsafe, muddy, dark path that is not much of a short cut at all to get to the Park and Ride lot instead of taking the very direct and safe sidewalk route, and I am! Especially since she expressed that it was a sketchy park. (And I agree.)

That said, something seems a bit off for a park attack. If she texted at 7:02 that would have given her time to park and discover she didn't have her badge after having passed the camera on 236th and 56th approx 2 mins earlier. But would she have headed down the path before assessing whether she had her work stuff? Maybe. But would the perp accost her, then take her back to her car to kill her and transport her to the culvert? Maybe if he is a known entity in the park and wanted to place her elsewhere? But then why bring back her car and park it on 58th with the blood evidence in it?

I hope we find out a few key things quickly because it's a little maddening to keep guessing about things that we know LE must know. It seems like LE wouldn't be so cagey with info if this was a random crime. But maybe.

Maybe seems to be my big insight in this post!

Since her friend waited 20 extra minutes for Cheryl to return it seems obvious the friend at least didn't expect Cheryl to take the bus.

No, it is just to the east of 58th. Basically around the corner from where the car was found, and right on the way if she was taking the most likely route from home. There is an espresso stand at that location and Cheryl would have driven right past it.

I also just want to point out that 236th would also be a pretty direct route from the culvert to the parking block on 58th. (For someone who might have been driving to park her car after dropping off her body.) After seeing how close together the three locations are (home, culvert, parking on 58th) I realized that the whole triangle could be traveled in like 5 mins or less. Maybe including dumping a body.

IF someone used her car to make the drop at the culvert, I am thinking they must have been caught on camera coming back to 58th--yet we've only been told about the 7 AM camera sighting with no sightings of the car driving in the opposite direction.

i googled the time it would take to get from the video to the library, which was a little farther than where she parked. it said one minute. i then googled the time it would take to get from where she was in the video to veterans memorial park. it again said 1 minute, but included a walk path and a dot to signal she would then be in the middle of that park by a minute, which seems reasonable. if shes a responsible person, she wouldnt be texting while driving. she would wait until she was parked, and if she made it until about the middle of that path, that means 7:01...or 7:02, giving her an extra minute to collect her belongings. i really dont think they would take her back to her car if it was random meaning in the moment, because how would they know she came from a car unless they were waiting right at the entrance? it doesnt appear you can see that from a bit down the path per photos. but, i guess most people in that area know it is an area used by commuters who park there. if it was planned, i would think they knew her car would be there and they could use it.

to kill her in such a short amount of time and find a place to leave her body in such a short amount of time says expert to me, or really well preplanned. unless of course, she wasnt put in the culvert that day but maybe was transported via her car to someones home? even to kill her in such a short amount of time without finding a place says expert to me. but im not expect in trying to hurt someone, though.

maybe he covered up the blood with a blanket or newspaper, or maybe it wasnt visible or something. i think maybe he would take her somewhere because maybe he thought there may be evidence like witness or camera that he was there from the other side and he wanted as little association with the area as possible..but then the car. man. um. maybe he brought the car back to buy him more time, as it would be found quicker and more resources devoted for that?

i agree with you. i wish we knew what happened to a degree. i no longer live in the area, but my Mom lives in Everett and is Cheryl's age. :/ makes me worry

wow so either they took a different route which shows premeditation, or they didnt take her car. if they didnt take her car, they would have to go to a whole lot more effort and risk. or maybe for some reason the video randomly doesnt show it?

It's just so weird. Obviously someone had to get her to the culvert. But to take her in her own car and go to the trouble to repark it on 58th is so strange. And the comings and goings would be caught on camera I think.

But we know something harmful happened in her car due to the blood.

Geez, maybe it is a Bundy situation. A killing for killing's sake. Poor Cheryl and her family.

Btw, one added thing about the trailers on the D's driveway...they were mostly black with some white.

If it wasn't her car, the car could be on video and no one would be the wiser. I can see someone leading her to a different vehicle on 58th, threatening her with a weapon. But I certainly can't see someone hurting her in her own car and then somehow carrying her to their own car. It seems like there is enough action and visibility on the street that that wouldn't be possible (or at least very risky).

It probably doesn't matter at this point, but if Cheryl told her carpool friend to go on without her, the assumption could be made that she intended to then ride the bus to work. It didn't have to be spelled out. Just because the friend asked how long and did actually wait, doesn't mean that Cheryl assumed she would do so. If she thought her friend would indeed go on without her, how did she intend to get to work if not by bus?

Does anyone else think there is a possibility that multiple assailants are involved?
I am considering this as a possibility.
IMO

I posted in the other thread and this one that two or more could have been involved.

I could be very off-base here, but the stone town sign at the entrance to the path where she was dumped looks an awful lot like a headstone to me. Not sure of the importance of that, but it may also have reminded whoever dumped her there of one as well (I guess suicide has been pretty much ruled out as an option, or is that still on the table according to LE? I guess we'll need to wait until the autopsy results are released to really speculate on what led to her demise). I guess if somebody chose the spot to leave her because of that monument, it could mean they felt some sort of compulsion to at least mark her grave (maybe they knew her?) or it was random, but pre-meditated and person who murdered her perhaps chose the spot so that it would be easy to drive by and visit her grave (I may have been following too many serial killer cases on here with that latter theory).

Well, actually we don't know if the blood was fresh, do we?

ETA-nevermind ! I just remembered, we don't know how MUCH. :)

Well I have now read 10 pages in this third thread and there is nothing new!

How and why has the discussion on whether Cheryl's intent on riding the bus after returning from picking her badge up at home taken so many pages? One can only dissect her text so many ways!

It must have been a very boring Sunday afternoon.

Given that:

  • she left the house shortly after her husband (around 7AM, per home surveillance video)
  • she texted her friend shortly after 7AM about the badge
  • her phone was powered down before the discussion with the carpool friend was concluded
  • blood was found in her car
  • she was found a short distance from where her car was found; and,
  • her car was near, or at, the location where it should be

what can we conclude about the reason for her murder?

Robbery gone bad.
