Cheryl's phone was powered down shortly after her last text.
Cheryl mentioned to the car pooler to go on without her.
The car pooler asked how long it would take to get the badge, and Cheryl answered ten minutes.
" “Just go without me,” the text said. “I’ll probably ride home with you.” "

Cheryl mentioned that she Probably would ride home with car pooler. Probably is an uncertainty, imoo, as probably is not 100 percent.
Why wouldn't Cheryl just say that Cheryl Will ride home with the car pooler? Instead it is not an absolute. Why even say that she will ride home with the car pooler at all, if Cheryl knew that Cheryl would be back in ten minutes and catch a ride with the car pooler?
The sequence of the texts could hold that answer, though, BUT Cheryl's phone was powered down after the last text? Why?
Either Cheryl powered down that phone herself, or some one else did. How could someone else do it in that short time span of car being seen on video at 7am and last text at 7:02am, and With her car doors locked and secured?
IMOO.
If the bag was from a restaurant she frequented, maybe it was already in the car, but then that doesn't explain the tying...
Might Cheryl have stopped for breakfast that morning at that restaurant?
Sorry if already asked /discussed.
What it seems like to me at this time is someone might have been/gotten in the backseat, put the bag over her head and strangled her to unconsciousness. Or abducTed her and put her in another vehicle where she was aphyxiated with the bag. Then threw her in the culvert (maybe thinking she was dead), where she continued to drown.
Maybe the perp initially had the razor blade, which was what he used to threaten her with. (Not sure why it was in her pocket, I don't think anyone was trying to stage a suicide).
Re: the animal blood, my guess at this time is that this will be tied to her cat (s), or perhaps the food the cats were eating.
Again, this is all my guess at this time, which seems more likely to me than suicide under those circumstances. Please feel free to poke holes in this theory!
Everything is jmo. I appreciate everyone's thoughts here.
Eta: I lean towards the idea that the cuts are defensive wounds, or sustained during a struggle, but I am not privy to the information LE has as far as how they came to the conclusion that the cuts were self inflicted.
They said she was rushing. I think there's a difference. I'm rushing every morning because I stay in bed as long as possible. But I'm not exactly running late.Didn't strykr say she was running a little late that morning.
That was even in some News articles at first.
So did something happen that morning to cause her to be running late?
From what I've read there are ZERO tells pointing to suicide. If I was given terminal diagnosis then maybe. Sudden psychological issue has never been mentioned that I saw. I was a psycho during menopause, but no one mentioned anything out of character from Cheryl. No one.For those who think this must be murder, it is important to apply the same standards as to why you think it isn't suicide. I would ask the following questions:
- Do you think it would be possible to confront, lure and kill a woman and transport her body a mile and half away without leaving any physical evidence? There are no outward signs of struggle on the body, no defensive wounds, no indication that she fought or was overtaken in some way. Could a murderer be so sophisticated that they could accomplish this murder without leaving any trail?
- By the accounts of her family, this is a woman that has no issues. Everyone liked her, she was kind, loving and well adjusted. There are no reported issues with her husband or family. She adopts hard to adopt animals and is deeply cared for by those who know her. Those are the reasons that some would say she would not commit suicide, but by the same account, don't they apply to someone killing her intentionally?
I would be interested to understand from those who firmly believe that it is not suicide, how they answer the above questions. I waiver from day to day and the new info doesn't seem to firmly place any of us in one camp or the other.
did we see the body that was driving that car ? or just the car itself ? did the cops look at the home surveillance to confirm what we were told that the vehicles left at that time in the morning ? Did the cops check the house over GOOD to make sure everything was okay? Did the cops go to every single traffic cam and that retirement home and look at their cams? Was Cheryl herself seen at these times? These are the questions I would have and if they did do this then Kudos to them for doing a thorough job. Since it was the hubby that actually found the car and searchers that found the body I am not convinced LE was as exhaustive as I would hope unless we are missing many pieces of this puzzle.
Didn't strykr say she was running a little late that morning.

... all the while being careful to take off her glasses and fold them neatly for later placement with her body?Unfortunately, I am more receptive now to suicide then I was earlier (maybe 20%) But if someone did snatch me off of the road (while texting) and quickly put a bag over my head (to conceal their identity) tight or loose... I may conk over on the spot (faint). And I'm sure that would incite panic on the perps part. I'm sure they would look for a spot to get me out of their vehicle real quick (not having planned for this.) Pull over on the corner of 205th and Cedar and roll me over the edge. Any brush or leaves I gathered would be washed away after 6 days in the water..
@Anzac : can you say what a "Verified SAR" is? I've looked around in the search function and can't seem to find what that means. I'm just curious to know what that label means![]()
I knew a girl years ago, much younger than Cheryl, that committed suicide, she was a pleaser, that's what I call her.
Everyone loved her, she did everything to please everyone, she was kind never a bad word about anyone.
No one could believe why she did it, doing good in school, boyfriend very popular.
They found her diary, she wrote how she didn't really want to do things that were often asked of her but she did it to please them.
No history of mental health just was tired of pleasing and decided the way to please herself was to end it all.
Hard for one to understand, no one really knows what goes on in peoples minds.
I am guessing if the cops know it was animal blood then they know what type of animal it was, sure wish they would reveal that unless its some type of eivdence they dont want known at this time.
Anyone wonder what the book was?
The one found in her car.
