JMO she likes to use the sons as a prop to heighten her concerns, who could say anything against a mother who is just worried to death about her children's safety? And she wrote a lot about her sons' concerns in her Inlander blog.

But if she really worried a lot about their safety she might have given a thought or two to what happens to the son if and when her charade gets exposed. She was worried about him getting bullied for his color but the kids might be much crueler about the child's mother being a fake black lady.

The hate crime letter was placed in a locked work-related mail box, so I doubt it had anything to do with her son.

The story I linked was in regard to three men asking where she and her son lived. And of course that is if she can be believed that it actually happened.I really didn't know if she had a son which is why I asked earlier. I haven't been following this story except in bits here and there.
I will say I find this situation interesting and wonder if part of her motive was to try to experience what others go through on a day to day basis.

She has one son from the marriage that ended in divorce years ago.
She also has an adopted brother to whom she refers as her son.

Ah that is where I got confused because I did read about the adopted brother that she passed off as her son.

All in all, I think there would have been fewer damages for Rachel and she'd look less ridiculous now if the family had refused to play along from the start. She might have told fewer lies if she believed someone would call her out on them.

But perhaps they didn't realize fully at first.

Did they play along? Rachel has allegedly been completely estranged from her family for years. Not sure how any of them would know what she was up to unless they were tracking her online or some such. And if they discovered any of her lies that way, what should they have done? She wasn't breaking any laws.

She's brought on herself whatever damage comes her way next. I don't really care what happens to her, truthfully. It's sounding increasingly likely there was a victim in all this....the brother she calls a son, who has been there with her for the whole Big Lie.

Interesting that we have not heard from him.

There is a petition from local NAACP members asking for RD to step down as president, as the focus has been taken away from the real work to RD's lies and deception. The is the same reason why she didn't speak at the commencement of EWU students in the AA studies. The focus really was to be on the graduating students, not Ms. Poor persecuted liar.

She has reported more hate crimes in this regional area than have made the news in the past decade or so. She seems to be the most victimized person in the area for her "race" yet really no proof. Of any of her allegations. While she has LEO tied up with investigating her allegations, she sits on a police oversight committee telling thm how they should have responded differently on cases based upon racial issues. This infuriates me!

People in the pacific NW have to overcome the stigma of having a couple of small sects of Arayan nations and neo-nazis living in their midst for a few years, the lack of diversity residing in the area, and very little exposure to other cultures. I see the reason she has been able to get away with this for so long is that people really do want to try and end racism, hate crimes and profiling that we hear of in other cities. In my experience, people have tried very hard to be empathetic to those values and what RD has done is create doubt on whether these issues truly exist (locally and regionally). I know they do exist, but not so much prevalence locally as she would make it sound. JMO as a local.

I don't think that was any part of her motive. IMO it seems pretty clear she chose to play black largely to exploit race and play victim. She could have played black and done her advocacy and left it at that. I'm sure she encountered racism enough in Idaho to satisfy any curiosity she had about being black, but not enough to scream victim.

Interesting that she chose black and not Native American, which she actually is in some very small part. The teepee and bow and arrow stories make me wonder if she considered choosing a Native American Big Lie. I'm sure this sounds cynical, but I'm guessing she chose her flavor of victimhood based on the rewards she thought she'd reap.

RD hosted a five week series called "moral Monday's" locally.

She was reportedly completely estranged from the parents for longer than the siblings. At least she said something about being very close to her siblings (yeah i know i know, she said isn't worth a lot) and the adopted brother said they met three years ago.

(
CNN)Ezra Dolezal says he didn't know how to respond the day his adopted sister took him aside and asked him "not to blow her cover" about having a black father.

On that day three years ago, he said, his sister Rachel Dolezal, 37, told him she was starting life anew in Spokane, Washington, where she's now head of the local chapter of the NAACP and chairwoman of a police oversight committee.

Ezra Dolezal came to visit her from Montana, where their parents live. His adopted sister was on her way to becoming one of the most prominent faces in Spokane's black community.

"She told me not to blow her cover about the fact that she had this secret life or alternate identity," Ezra Dolezal said Saturday. "She told not to tell anybody about Montana or her family over there. She said she was starting a new life ... and this one person over there was actually going to be her black father."

I think if something like that happened I'd certainly keep googling her and read her FB and try to figure out what is going on.

The younger brother and she didn't just meet 3 years ago, he attended her wedding in 2000 and is pictured with hubby, the other sibs and her bio parents.

Another news station khq.com is reporting a leaked letter to Spokane NAACP members from "President Dolezal" stating they are postponing the NAACP meeting scheduled for tomorrow night and announcement of their decision whether to keep her on.

Sorry I'm having trouble linking from my iPad

Yeah sure, but my point was they had reportedly met at least once relatively recently when her deception was already going on. The parents hadn't seen her since 2004 or so, IIRC.

I think it was the man she is calling her father that she just met 3 yrs ago.

She is a very good painter. It is sad that she mucked up her life with all of this other nonsense.

It's very similar and she must have looked at the Turner work while painting but it's not exactly the same.

It's too close for her to claim copyright on the painting.
