Jenner didn't claim he was born a biological woman. He claimed he believed himself to be a woman.
So Jenner wasn't deceiving people into thinking he was a biological woman.

Okay, fair enough.

But Brandon Teena did deceive people and was killed for it.

Still, he is not reviled for his desperation and lies. He was caught in a web and became a victim of his own determination to live the way he felt he was born to live.

Have you seen pics of Bruce Jenner before Caitlyn?

She is a woman because of hormones and plastic surgery. And this is all because she knew in her heart she was a woman, she just had to go to medicine to help her become who she was supposed to be.

Rachel isn't black. So does that mean Bruce/Caitlyn is not a woman?

What really is the big deal? If I say I am Danish,it ain't true, but who does it hurt?

Who does it hurt? I think her parents looked very hurt when they saw her posting pictures of some random man and claiming he was her father.

LYING is a big deal. To some of us anyway.

I live in the same town as the Kardashians, and my daughter went to school with the youngest two girls. I have great respect for Caitlyn and for the way she made her transition. But she NEVER denied nor rebuffed her parents or her chidren nor 'pretended' she was never a male previously. Can you see the difference?

"It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child". Steve Martin "The Jerk"

My husband and son must have watched the DVD a zillion times. LOL

Look, I will back off, because I am obviously not posing a popular opinion, but please keep in mind that there are two genders, (and maybe more) , biologically speaking, but therd is only ONE human race. Granted, there are variations, but we are one race, sharing the same mitochondrial DNA.

Something to think about. ;)

What exactly IS black. Or white? Our DNA says it is pretty much all the same.

Why are we talking about Caitlyn Jenner??????

We aren't. My bad. I thought it an interesting and relevant parallel. I was mistaken. :)

As you were! Lol!

I have so many thoughts on this subject. I am kinda torn. Did she get a scholarship? Did she claim she was african american when she applied? I had a conversation with with someone one time who thought it was funny and pretty awesome that she was granted certain funds because she claimed she was Mexican American even though she didn't have a drop anything but caucasian blood in her.

One of my closest friends wasborn and raisedin Puerto Rico of American and Swiss parents and was given numerous grants and scholarships based on his perceived ethnicity. Being as his parents were rather poor, he accepted the assistance and with a shrug said "well, I AM Puerto Rican".

And he was. Not ethnically, but legally.

So again, what is race, really?

From her bio re Africana Studies program, at college where she teaches/taught.
Shows her degree is MFA but apparently has goals in other fields as well.

"Doležal also entertains an interest in the medical field and has begun pre-medical studies, working toward an MD and a residency in trauma surgery. She hopes to combine her medical knowledge with her passion for human rights and engage in life-saving surgery efforts around the world." bbm

The issue is deception. Dolezal has claimed numerous hate crimes perpetrated towards her for being an outspoken black woman. All but 3 (out of 8 or 9) did not have enough evidence to be considered a crime in both Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Spokane, Washington.

She filed reports of these alleged hate crimes, yet she portrayed herself and signed that her ethnicity was white, black, and Native on her application for a police oversight Omsbudsman appointment.

Was she deceptive in filing these reports as well? Is she wasting precious resources of the detectives to pursue publicity for a heinous problem that doesn't really exist in these circumstances?

She claimed over the years multiple instances of racially motivated hate crimes against her, including noose on her property, and hate mail. Police had to investigate all of these crimes. She claims she is disappointed nobody has been arrested.

"When reached for comment on this story, Dolezal said she is disappointed that like so many other times she reported hate crimes against her and her family that the subsequent police investigations did not result in an arrest."

She was in no need for what she received. She was going to college with or without it. She was just so smug about how she got away with it that it stuck with me. She was straight
forward with the fact that she lied about where she lived and her parents contribution to her so she could get it. What she received could have been the difference for someone else.

Reserving personal thoughts about RD's representing herself as having ethnicity other than her bio ethnicity.

In ~ 8 min vid in OP, reporter asks her about various aspects of the 'hate mail' and 'noose' events. No stamps or USPS barcode on env's delivered to PO box; 'noose' in shed or barn on prop she rented was landlord's rope for lifting & dressing deer, wildlife.

Anybody find more re LE reports ^ about these above events?

From bio, more about teaching, etc, then -
"During her experience as the Director for the Human Rights Education Institute, Doležal developed programs and curriculum that expanded the annual audience from 3,000 per year to 23,000 per year. She created world-class exhibits, coordinated cultural events, scheduled keynote speakers, organized panel discussions and began the Young Advocates for Human Rights summer training program. Her efforts were met with opposition by North Idaho white supremacy groups, including the Ku Klux Klan, the Neo Nazis and the Aryan Nations, andat least eight documented hate crimes targeted Doležal and her children during her residency in North Idaho."

If person falsely claims to be black/AA, is it a stretch for others to speculate that person might falsely claim to be victim of hate crimes, which may not have happened?
IDK what to make of this.

ETA: I see a few other posters have addressed this, as I was typing, oh, sooo slowly.

And a transgender person has no concrete, physical proof that they are, in fact, not the gender with which they are born. Yet, it is imperative to that person that they be allowed to live as the gender they feel connected to.

I was born white, and biological female.

Should I realize I was born with the wrong physical sexual characteristics for my emotional/psychic gender alignment, then I would be considered transgendered.

Not saying this is the case here, but who are we to say people cannot be transracial?

Physiologically there is no difference in being born one gender or one race, yet identifying with another.

Look, if I am wrong, I am sorry, but I tend to be tolerant of whatever people choose as long as nobody is victimized or hurt.

Really, how is choosing a race not nascent to you different than choosing a gender not nascent to you?

Again, if she did this for money or political power or to circumvent hiring practices which are race-restricted, then that is fraudulent. But that has not been proven, insomuch as I have read.

There has never been a fluid ethnic spectrum that people fall into based on self-identification rather than family history or DNA. But that is the case with gender. It's just different.

And I'm not sure why we are veering into this topic. Seems like doing so has to do with an agenda rather than reality, frankly, since this woman has never stated she simply self-identifies as black. But she has lied about her family connections and evaded the question when asked. So im not sure what the point is or how it is relevant.

But Caitlyn Jenner was married. Twice. To women.

I do not doubt her sincerity. She lived for many years in a way that was a struggle for her. She is only now living what is her truth.

But again, I do not know Rachel's motivation. I can say I do not have all the info so I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt until I know more.

I just cannot believe there are such things as gender dysmorphia, body dysmorphia, and not racial dysmorphia. (For lack of a better label).

Honestly, JMO. I am not claiming to be some expert. Just trying to find equality.

Caitlyn Jenner was living inauthentically. She changed that by revealing the truth. This woman is living inauthentically as a black woman. But she CHANGED into that role. She wasn't forced into it.

These are two different things. I understand some might feel this proves some sort of point about trans persons. It doesn't. Using basic logic, like a Venn diagram, it's not the same thing.

Oh yeah, I am pretty positive she faked every single hate crime she claimed happened. Total liar. Which really hurts those who do suffer hate crimes, IMO. Another betrayal.

Apparently she did not claim to be black when she applied to college. It was assumed based on her focus before she was accepted.

A good interview with one of her adopted brothers....using AA hair products, putting on makeup to appear darker, feeling discriminated at Howard U because she was white which he feels led to her feeling hatred towards whites etc etc

Side note: I have a feeling the SNL writers are sorry their season is over. I can just imagine what they would do with this story!

Nojing much really seeing as we are 98% the a we genetically as chimps and that two people from the continent of Africa are likely to be more similar genetically to a person from another continent than they are to one another, the concept of race becomes even more elusive. We've all been mixing for at least 50,000 years. So the concept of race is somewhat silly.

But tell that to people whose skin color is dark. They have to live with the consequences of having a darker shade of skin, every day. For this woman, that was a choice.

"Race" doesn't matter to people who do not have to feel its effects.
