I bought her brother's book on Kindle and am just beginning to read it. Will post from it if find anything relevant.

PS- her parents were "Jesus People" in the 1970's.....hippies that took up "radical"
Christianity. Whatever that means. About to find out, I guess. :)

Jesus People were hippie fundamentalist Christians. Kind of liberal about things like environmental issues and stuff.

Read earlier tdy, Ms D said ~ doing hair is her bread & butter.
IIUC, that means for $$$, so did she/does she hold license?
Wait a sec - how old was that article, was it in ID or WA? Can't find link.

Is she a licensed cosmetologist in Washington? https://fortress.wa.gov/dol/dolprod/bpdLicenseQuery/

W a quick glance, did not find a way/place to verify current ofexpired license. How long ago did she move to WA? Depending on renewal period, say 3 yrs, could she still be licensed? IDK.

He discusses Rachel's marriage. She met her husband working for UPS, both were sorters. They eloped.

He is hinting strongly that he personally witnessed both his sister and his 3 year old nephew being emotionally abused by her husband.

Not hints. Direct.

He writes Rachel to ask her if she's OK and how long she's been shut away. Rachel's husband replies, telling him to stay out of his business and to not put thoughts in Rachel's head.

Joshua calls her. She tells him her husband hasn't hit her, but that he's yanked her around by her hair.

How did they both end up in college then?

And he actually got a PhD. So it's a different situation from someone like Duggars, where children are homeschooled and the best they could possibly hope for is to go to some community college.

He talks about being worried about Rachel, that her ex isn't paying her child support and she doesn't have the money to hire another attorney.

Supposedly her paintings are selling fro big $.

Joshua encouraged her to leave her husband. She refused. He read up on domestic violence and tried to enlist others to try to convince her. None of them believed in divorce so declined to help.

After some weeks he found a couple of allies to help convince her. Rachel, protected by 2 deputies who served her husband with temporary separation papers and a restraining order, left, and without her son, according to Joshua because she didn't have the legal right to claim her son. (????)

Is this the brother that is being accused of abuse of a minor? Or is that another brother?

How could she not have legal rights to her son?

Joshua says Rachel explains to him (after the divorce?) that she's exchanged fear for a "life grinding itself into dust." Living in poverty, barely scraping by, going nowhere.

I think it is the same brother. Joshua. Her older brother.

After reading all of the articles, interviews, and her journals, and the comments posted below them all, one thing stands out to me. Why did she keep her same name?

The reason I ask is that , apparently, many people from Montana also travel around in Idaho and Washington. So there were many people who knew her in the past, that saw her very high profile role as an ombudsmen and NAACP President. And they were so surprised because they knew her by name but she looked so different.

I wonder why she didsn't just change her name to get her fresh start?

I've been wondering about this, too. The million dollar question for me. IF she wanted to make a new life, complete with all of her lies, then why oh why keep the same name?

In most states, you do not need a license to braid hair and arrange hair into ethnic styles.

How did they both end up in college then?

Her mother has a degree and is an administrator at a Christian school.

[Ruthanne] Dolezal grew up in Libby, where she attended Kootenai Valley Christian School as a child. Before returning to the school to teach, she received a teaching degree in interdisciplinary studies from Western Governor’s University to teach kindergarten through eighth grade. She gained cross-cultural teaching experience while spending several years educating students in South Africa, Colorado and Georgia.

Just checked it's an oline university out of SLC UT.

Otto- it wouldn't have mattered what trimester. Her parents didn't trust any "clinicians." Rachel's father delivered their children. No midwives allowed. Jesus was listed as their witness on the babies' birth certificate.

Rachel's mother told Joshua he was a survivor of the holocaust on babies since he was born after Roe v Wade, and according to Joshua, they adopted black babies to demonstrate their pro-life bona fides.

Whaaat??? Father delivered own babies. Interesting.

ciao
