I am deeply disturbed by the letter I received today from the Mayor and Spokane City Council President requesting my resignation as Chair of the Office of Police Ombudsman Commission.
I wonder what made this different from the NAACP where she was so happy to pass the baton to her VP just a couple of days ago.
I standby my work on behalf of the citizens of Spokane to further justice and promote civilian oversight of law enforcement.
I know the report concentrates on the misconduct findings and not on the good work they accomplished (if any) but they spent so much time in this volunteer operation managing office policies and drafts and minutes that it's hard to see when they actually did much furthering of justice.
Her fresh fame meant that more people read it more quickly. No doubt it's troubling for her but doesn't mean that the conclusions are wrong...I am sincerely troubled by the short-sided conclusions that have so quickly been made with this report.
I urge the people of Spokane to take a close look at the timing and intentions of the investigation and request for my resignation.
This is a neat sentence because it implies so much misconduct, skeevy motives, discrimination, injustice, police coverups, because she's such a brave freedom fighter... without actually saying what she thinks happened. Of course the timing and the intentions of the investigation has to do with when the harassed worker was finally fed up enough to file an official complaint.
I will continue to do all I can to promote greater transparency and accountability for law enforcement both locally and nationally."
So that's why she and her pals falsified the meeting minutes. To promote transparency and accountability.
