Still it would explain a lot. Why no one in America came forward, what happened to the rest of the money, his lack of a noticeable accent…I’m just suggesting he might be a Canadian from Manitoba.
What makes you think that he was from Manitoba? Not being snarky; I just want to know.

Accent. Apparently people from the Prairie Provinces of Canada (like Manitoba) don’t really have an accent and DB Cooper was described as having no accent which eliminates Quebec as that has a prominent accent and that could extend to Ontario, British Columbia and Yukon. Also people described him as appearing to have indigenous or Latino ancestry. My best guess is he is Metis who are commonly found in Manitoba (the man credited with establishing Manitoba was Metis, Louis Riel). Of course he could be from Alberta but my suspicion is that he tried to pass as being of Italian heritage and Winnipeg has a large Italian Canadian population (not sure about Alberta) so I think he spent time in Winnipeg. Honestly this was based on research I did years ago.

Thank you. At this point, I don’t think anything can be discounted.

No problem. Like you said nothing can be discounted right now. We have never found the remaining money so perhaps it ended up being exchanged for Canadian dollars and turned into (as I headcanon) funds for a vineyard in the Okanagan Valley. Plus his accent makes it likely he was from the Midwest/Prairie Provinces. Funnily enough a couple of people do think he was Canadian as I do. Check out DB Sleuth’s channel on YouTube. He posted a video covering this avenue of speculation.

Thank you, I will check out DB Sleuth. My brother and I have been obsessed with this case since it happened!

There is virtually zero difference in accent in Canadians born anywhere from BC to Ontario. Or the Maritime provinces aside from Newfoundland for that matter.

I’m from BC and if I meet another Canadian I’d generally have no idea where in Canada they were from. The stereotype Canadian ‘hoser’ accent - ‘oot and aboot’ - is more of a class thing across the country and isn’t particularly regional.

People from Saskatchewan do call a hoody a ‘bunny hug’ which is freaking weird.

I believe the Dan Cooper comic theory is blown out of proportion. Dan Cooper is a very common name and was probably the name that popped into his head but I have also wondered if that was the hijackers real name. It might be crazy but so is jumping out of a plane in just a business suit, into a storm with high winds and no visibility, and using a parachute that you can't steer.

The more I read about Cooper the more I believe he just didn't care anymore and he wanted to stick it to the system. It wouldn't surprise me if he let the briefcase go and let money fly out everywhere so that if he did get caught he could rub into the feds faces that they would never get the money back.

I don't think he was stupid enough to use his real first name but I wouldn't be shocked if his last name was actually Cooper given it's pretty common as well. One of the relatively recent suspects L.D. Cooper would fit this.
