David Sampson was last seen in Seattle, Washington on March 1, 1977. Prior to his disappearance he exhibited personality changes; he may have undergone a religious conversion. He left abruptly, carrying a packboard with a green pack, a light blue sleeping bag, a Bible and other religious materials, and extensive survival gear, but no money or identification. He was wearing blue jeans, a dark blue or green ski jacket, and hiking boots. He has never been heard from again.

Sampson was born in the Bakersfield, California area. He was a student at the University of Washington in 1977. His interests included botany, hiking and environmental issues. At the time of his disappearance, he had brown hair, brown eyes, was 6'0" and 140 pounds, and had small moles on his chin and upper lip.

Perhaps he went on a few day hike and got lost. Died of exposure and animals scattered his remains.

I know there's a difference between where they were found, but David was mentally troubled and could have run all the way to Texas especially since he was obsessed with religion, maybe he saw Blessing, TX as some kind of religious pilgrimage. I see a resemblance.

Perhaps, as they say above, he got lost looking for the path of light and was left at the disposal of nature and the animals took charge of distributing his remains. In any case, it is a horrible death. Perhaps he has already reached heaven with the Lord and now he is happy...
