"We hopefully will have answers, but there is nothing more we can tell you," Troyer said. "That's as cold-hearted as it is."

Video from SkyKING showed officers tagging a white pick-up truck in a parking lot 13322 Pacific Ave S. Tacoma and a tow truck pulling up.

Troyer said the suspect is a black male, 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10, 20s to 30s, scruffy appearance, wearing a black coat and blue jeans.

He said they are looking to see if there is any surveillance cameras that may have caught the suspect on video.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information. Tips can be called in to (253) 591-5959 or 866-977-2362.

The victims were Lakewood Police Officers...

PARKLAND, Wash. - Four Lakewood Police officers were shot and killed Sunday morning in what authorities called a targeted ambush at a coffee shop.

Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says the officers - four male and one female - were in full uniform and wearing bulletproof vests, sitting in a coffee shop near 116th Street and Steele Street on the east side of the Air Force base at about 8:30 a.m.

Wow! They had on bullet-proof vests and were still killed. The perp must be a good shot and knew they would have on vests. :(

The news report I watched the reporter said that in many areas or states, officers are not allowed to gather together in public like this because of incidents from the past.

I know where I lived up to last year, in south OC, calif, officers were often together for meals and such, at the same little pizza shop. They'd gather for dinner time or whatever.

The reporter also said they were stepping up security a bit at the military installations, with regard to the coming and going from the facilities. Apparently this was fairly close to the entrance to a facility.

When I was reading at the above link, a poster mentioned another recent incident in Washington. There was an officer shot and killed while he sat in his patrol car in October. I don't believe they could be linked as the alleged perp was arrested. I haven't looked into that case any further.

Just, FWIW,

The Seattle Times mentions the murder of Officer Brenton in their story on this case...

The man was wearing a black coat and blue jeans, Troyer said.

A second suspect might have been with the man, Troyer said.

Detectives were preparing search warrants for multiple locations, he said.

The shootings come about a month after the killing of Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton, who was gunned down while sitting his patrol car Oct. 31.

Maybe someone who had undergone firearms training, rejected by the PD or ex-military? The wording "shot execution style" tells me these could've been head shots, one right after the other without time for the officers to respond. :furious: MOO

I believe Parkland in unincorporated so it is possible they were county deputies for Pierce County. I had a son who lived in that area for a short while and traveled there one time. I think you are right, Fran, they knew the perps would be suited up and probably got shot in the head. They went quickly. Oh, please I hope they did.

I just read about the officer killed in October. (actually, Holloween night) The perp had declared a personal war on local police and had fire-bombed IIRC, 4 police cars, prior to his alleged attack of officer Brenton. He also attempted to kill the officer's partner but they escaped.

I thought it would be Pierce Co. officers too, but saw on KING 5 that they are reporting they were Lakewood Officers...I have only seen this on one news outlet, so..not sure if it's confirmed.

About 2 1/2 hours after the deadly ambush, officers identified a white Chevy pickup truck abandoned at 134th Street and Pacific Avenue South that is believed to be the one that the suspects fled in.

Soon after, there was a standoff reported about two blocks away between officers and one or more people barricaded inside a residence at C Street and 133rd Street South.

It was not immediately known if the standoff is related to the police shootings.

I believe you're right. It's been reported they all died at the scene. :furious:

The article at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34194122/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/ indicates LE is looking for one suspect.

The officers were at Forza Coffee Company near McChord Air Force Base. Their marked patrol cars were parked out front. The coffeehouse chain is owned by Brad Carpenter, a retired police officer himself. That might be why officers frequented that particular spot.

Per the radio broadcast, there are several officers on location that are off duty from other agencies. They're there to help in any way they can. They're doing a lot of the 'grunt' work for LE so they're able to cover more 'tips' than would normally be possible.

The radio broadcast linked has three reporters around the scene.

The officers were with the Lakewood Police Dept.

8:15 working to go on shift. Someone walked in and gunned them down in cold blood. He never said a word.

They know there's one black man possible shooter. Not sure about a second.

They are looking at a number of locations around the county for the suspects.

Oh, good grief! Someone called in a phony 911 call and they had to check it out!

There were two employees in coffee shop and a few customers. They are all very traumatized and they're trying to get them help so they can help LE.

96/Steele a reporter...........LE responded and took a person into custody. Officers received another bit of info and surrounded a neighborhood.

They're just following up on every lead they get.

Ugh, what a horrible massacre of people who risk their lives to protect ours. 4 dead and gone, just like that. And during the holiday season, their families will remember this every year. May they RIP and may the Lord give the families, and community, strength and peace, in Jesus' Name, amen.
