Slain officers were part of original Lakewood force

LAKEWOOD, Wash. - The four officers who were shot and killed at a Lakewood coffee shop Sunday morning were all members of the original Lakewood police force, said Lakewood Mayor Douglas Richardson.

"The slain officers were all part of Lakewood’s initial police department start-up five years ago," Richardson and City Manager Andrew Neiditz said in a statement.

A man walked in to St. Joseph's Hospittal with a gun shot wound and left prior to police being able to arrive. Unknown if it was the suspect.

One of the officers killed was Mark Renninger, originally from Pennsylvania. Has two daughters and a son. :rose:

One of the slain officers was identified as Sergeant Mark Renninger, who grew up in Bethlehem, Penn.

A statement from his family said, "Mark was a professional, dedicated police officer who made the ultimate sacrifice. More importantly, he was a loving and devoted father, husband and family member who will be missed by many."

Renninger's family said the officer is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.

Lakewood police said the other slain officers are Ronald Owens, 37, Tina Griswold, 40, and 42-year-old Greg Richards.
