Tactical Apprehension Control or Tactical Air Control (depending on the context) is what TAC stands for.

heard them report that they had secured TAC 1

I can't help but think that people being led to believe he was contained in the Leschi home overnight may have made it easier for him to get to where ever he is. People weren't looking as closely because we were all basically led to believe that they had it wrapped up at that house. I know many here at WS were surprised when they woke up and he hadn't been apprehended, yet. And apparently they have now called off the UofW sighting as of 1:10 pm EST according to HLN. I don't know what is more scary, the misinformation or the actual offender.

Chief speaking now. Saying the department was put together in 2004 and all 4 that were lost yesterday were original members of the department. He is now thanking all the law enforcement agencies that are coming to their help right now.

 Of course he couldn't! The Canadians are on high alert, I'm sure! Don't know why I even speculated about the passport!

Call me stupid but I never had to use a passport to get into Canada but that was 20 years ago. Have things changed?

Police chief says he met with the families yesterday and it's the hardest thing he's ever done. Please respect their privacy at this time. The departments are doing everything they can to assist them.

There is no doubt in his mind the person will be brought to justice.

Donation fund has been set up for the families. Someone will be back out to the presser podium in a few minutes to give additional details.

Presser is over (for now).

Yes, and as a person living on one of those islands, I'm not feeling especially safe today.

Keep your doors locked and keep posting.

Are we sure on this passports into Canada now needed? I lived in San Antonio for eight years and we never had to use a passport to cross over into Nuevo Laredo, even 3-4 years after 9/11. Also, I'm sure LE, almost the first thing, called the border police; that was always done in S.A. when a crime of note took place, and San Antone is about the same distance from the border as is the Seattle area.

If he was shot in the abdoman then it has to be superficial to some extent. If the bullet hit a vital organ he would have bled to death by now or be in such rough shape he coudn't travel. MO of course since I am not a medical person.

Perhaps someone on the forum who knows about gunshot wounds could check in and give their opinion.

Still having a hard time getting past the people helping him. Was this guy running a cult?

Yes. It is a recent change (June 1, 2009). I am right here at the border of WA/Canada. Yikes! I hope this creep doesn't come up this way. Actually I hope they catch him very soon.

I used to live in Lakewood. It was an interesting area. Beautiful Mansions next door to gangs and drug dealers. Most towns you know where the bad areas are, but not in Lakewood. :-( My ex still works in Fed LE in Lakewood. I am so sad this happened. This guy should have never been out on the streets. Has our Governor issued any comments yet?

Latest Seattle Times tweet:

Area where police are searching for suspect is longstanding enclave for homeless known locally as "The Jungle."

For donations & police union comments for Lakewood Police Independent Guild (LPIG) http://lpig.us/ "Every penny will go to the families; if you want to donate to a specific officer you can write his or her name in the memo section. If the check is made out to LPIG at PO Box 99579 Lakewood, WA 98499."

It reminded me of when I lived in Kent. There was a shooting at a Denny's up the street. I think it injured 5. I'm not sure if anyone died. They had 2 people in custody for the shooting. That was in 2007.

It's frightening that horrible crimes can just occur any time of the day, any where, and to anyone.
