A man charged with premeditated murder for plotting last year to kill his ex-girlfriend and her roommate's 2-year-old son was found guilty Tuesday on all counts by a Kitsap Superior Court jury.
As Judge Kevin Hull read the verdict against Geraldo DeJesus, 31, the father of the deceased child charged toward DeJesus and was restrained by sheriff's deputies, shaking an already tense courtroom.
Jurors deliberated three days after the lengthy trial over the homicides of 2-year-old Kaden Lum and 30-year-old Heather Kelso, DeJesus' ex-girlfriend and the mother of their daughter. DeJesus and Kelso both worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
DeJesus also was convicted of attempted murder against Kelso's friend, Mathew Dean, who was shot early March 28, 2015, as he fled the residence at the Kariotis Mobile Home Park in East Bremerton.
Jurors also convicted on another attempted murder charge, for Kaden's mother, Jalisa Lum, who was trying to shield Kaden when he was shot. Jalisa Lum did not know Kelso long and had moved in with Kaden after answering an advertisement for a roommate Kelso placed on Craigslist.
On Monday, Judge Kevin Hull sentenced DeJesus to two life sentences, without early release, along with an additional 680 months in prison.
