I do think he was more careful with evidence than we originally assumed, and perhaps thought he could get away with this. As perhaps he has before.

It's interesting though that he deposited the remains in bins that wouldn't be collected again for a week - that's risky. Most people would discover a bag in their curb bin and think - ok some jerk put his garbage in my bin last night - but would just leave it there until next week's pickup / not do anything about it. Because what are you gonna do?

It may have been total luck that Homeowner #1 actually looked in the bag and discovered the contents of the garbage were human remains. LE said somewhere that the remains were "packaged" and put into bags which may mean they were sealed in ziplocks in such a way that the smell would go undetected for awhile, and maybe even packaged as a disguise to look like something else. If this is the case, I'm definitely thinking this was well-premeditated.

Since he's not a homeowner, he might have assumed the bins were on the curb for emptying the next morning and so tried it.
I wonder why he put them in several different ones. Maybe because when he saw they were actually empty, he thought all of it in one would be too obvious and looked for another to split it up?

I would love to see a brain scan of this guy. There is so much research that has and is being done on that.

That could be right of course.

I think luck would have played a part here too if her remains hadn't been found. I'm sort of sticking around this thread because of the possible serial killer angle. I think there is something to that. It's the dismemberment. He cleaned up enough that her mother and ex husband didn't notice anything murder-like in the house. Forensics had to find that later. But his DNA there and in the car could be explained because of the date. Unless of course it's with the remains. And if those remains had gone to the landfill, would he be charged right now? I really wonder.

Well, he put the remains in a household can.
If he put them in a dumpster far less likely to be found.

Also, he formed a relationship with the victim (6 weeks?) -- the classic predatory serial killers from the NW just pick them at random off the street. Not saying he hasn't killed before, but he doesn't fit the pattern. Honestly I am surprised the FBI has been called in on this one - probably because of his movements across the country.

(edit) to those who think the dismemberment and disposal might indicate a serial killer here's a relatively recent local dismemberment case that was not a serial killer

You might be surprised how many women get involved with men who have issues thinking they can "fix" them. It doesn't sound like Ingrid was one of those women, but it happens. They like the drama somehow.

What is the attraction? Perhaps the attraction is found in the periodic table of elements & as formulaic as simple "chemistry".

My mother was a saint. She was a widow same age as Ingrid. I begged her not to date "Jon". But,Mom experienced that euphoric chemistry fueled by the fact "Jon" was handsome, fun, went to church and very attentive.OK,there is no comparison with my mom's experience because personally I think Ingrid caught on very quick to John Charlton's character! My point only is "Jon" was a sociopath & able to dupe my mom and morph into what she wanted him to be.

Because of my own experience with "Jon" and my mother. Way back-before I married & I was dating;I intentionally didn't engage easily and was somewhat detached when I met men. I would even go so as to say I would scare the poo out of any guy remotely like "Jon".It broke my heart to see my mom's spirit broken by "Jon" and it rips my heart out to think of Ingrid and her girls.

Does this mean that may we never get to see his face? Has that ever been done before?

I agree. Why I still beleive this was the first face to face. Interestly (posted) another lady that got invovled with him said, and I found it telling was something along the lines he seemed normal on the phone but creepy face to face. She was a nurse - she would habe IMO sensed trouble within 20 min. I think becasue of her beauty he wanted folks to think that she "dated" him, when in reality , she had been online and had some doubts which is why it took her 6 weeks to finally do a face to face , with 70,000 other people around !!
In regards to his new mug shot, if it doesn't get leaked somehow I imagine we won't get to see it until trial starts and it is entered into "evidence". When the jury sees it maybe we will, or at least that's how I am reading the situation., but I don't pretend to be a lawyer.

It must be VERY incriminating. I hope she effed him up real good.

I wonder why no one from the game has stepped forward to say they were sitting near them. At games people are all around you and very close. I would like to know how he was acting, the interaction between the two. I go to many games and I would recognize someone sitting near me if on the news the next day or people everywhere talking about it. What about people at the snack bar serving food and drinks did anyone recognize him at counter?

Also, same question with the bar after the game. No one speaking out? Other people had to be at the bar. Were JC and IL affectionate to one another? In the Hannah Graham murder case many people at the bars reported on the behaviors of Jesse Matthews and Hannah and also at the bars when he was alone.

JC most likely started drinking before he left to meet Ingrid, then getting drunk at the game while getting mean and more drinking after the game at the bar and becoming even meaner. I'm sure at this point Ingrid was questioning in her mind that this guy is a heavy drinker or alcoholic. I'm sure she noticed his behavior changing getting more aggressive as the night when on after all she is a nurse. I bet she wanted out of there and wanted to go home and he wanted to stay and drink more. She was probably getting pi**ed. He was probably very mean when they left. I believe he might have beat the crap out of her in the vehicle after she was trying to leave without him. She just wanted to rid of him and end the night.

I completely agree with the other poster I don't think she willingly took that weirdo home. I think she was either dead or near death (passed out) when he drove them to her house and the rest is history.

I have always gotten the Helen Reddy vibe from Ingrid, I am woman watch me roar. She had a quote "He promised me the world, I told him I had my own. So In that sense I could see her helping out JC, he clearly did not appear downtrodden, just someone who did not have his act together.

In regards to the ex girlfriend- she said that she dated him for about 6 months ? She mentioned that he would get violent when intoxicated and had put his hands on her once- wonder how in the world that relationship even lasted 6 months. As evidenced by this horrific crime, I would say the guy had much more than just violent tendencies when drunk. There are a lot of issues! How did they just peacefully split ? How could she peacefully break up with him? It's just scary to me..... He seems to be the one that wants to get the last laugh.
It's just chilling that this monster she dated for 6 months just brutally murdered a "date."
Just how long can you put on a fake persona before you ultimately snap?

I do not believe he snapped. I believe once he seen her pic and profile contact, he targeted her to do this. I don't care how much of a drinker, alcoholic he was, I do not believe anyone in a "blackout" could function to this point, and driving how far without getting pulled over or an accident?:liar:

ETA can we have a "pants on fire" icon?

This serial killer possibility is what led me to see what WS folks had to say about this case, if there were any unsolved cases in the PNW that were in any way similar to Ingrid's. But as far as I can tell, there aren't. Right? I know of several unsolved homicides in the Seattle area of women but none of them are lining up with the circumstances here.

Kelly Sarsten in Machias 2004 comes to mind.

Also any unsolved disappearance where body was never found. Nancy Moyer, Valerie Renee du Laney, Lyn Marie Ohana. These are just Washington.

Due to the wording, it would almost have to be the halfway house.

How do you figure that? I don't understand the reasoning.Thanks.

The use of the word one, as in one of his roommates, it it was his ex, unless there were multiple roommates there, I would think his ex would be used.

just mo we should check out found dismembered

Miss Nancy! I used to watch her, and I remember this "event" -- it was some case that she had babbling on for a while about. Message here not breaking! And it was something stupid, like the color of shoes found. She said blue, 15 minutes later turned on CBS news- aired a story about the case, and in the vidoe you could see the victims bright red shoes

so................if weeks in a story, when there was video, I think she just actually makes stuff up!!

There was another one something like glasses unbroken /broken and she had it bacwards for weeks!!

o/t: Funny parady!

Some comments have suggested he's a narcissist, I'd take that one step further and say he's a sociopath. I found this link and while it is looooong, there is some really insightful information.

I imagine that he presented himself as poor me, my relationships have been sad, nobody loves me enough. Ingrid was obviously a "caretaker" type. I don't think it's fair to assume she felt like she could fix him, but probably was empathetic to his situation. Unfortunately as soon as she did that, she unknowingly became his victim, even before he murdered her.

#1. Regarding the garbage smelling...if someone's garbage was stinking on my street, I honestly probably would not think anything of it. I certainly wouldn't assume there was a body in their trash. I know others have said its a very distinct smell, but even knowing about her murder, I think most people might not be consciously be looking for a smell.

#2. I have probably looked in my trash 5 times in my life. I normally open the lid and toss the bag in.

#3. I'm assuming the bag would have been at the bottom of the trash. If other trash was thrown in on top and the top was closed, perhaps the smell wouldn't be too bad. Or maybe if it was the house that was vacant, there was no additional trash and the can was never opened until the trash guy came.

One question I have is it was mentioned in an article that the truck got half way up the street before it stopped. So it must have been something that was not noticed until it was in the actual truck??? Otherwise you would think they would stop right there before even getting it into the truck.

So does LE do a drug test on people when they are arrested? I don't know the answer to this. Would they do one if he claimed a blackout?

I'm sure it's protocol to drug test convicted felons and also a cheek swab for DNA to put in the national felon database upon a new arrest.

It's not protocol in the county jail in which I work. The cheek swab isn't done on everyone either. It varies from place to place and also what the charges are.

I was one of those women for 15 years but it was NOT because I liked the drama. By the time I had been manipulated and physically and mentally abused so many times it was too late to see that he was a narcissist and that it was not me who was the one with the issue. I enabled his behavior, I actually believed that I was the problem and the one who was making him sick. I am a highly educated and independent woman but guys like that pray on woman just like me. When I found out he was suffering from Bipolar disorder and was an addict and alcoholic I really thought I could save him. One can never save an addict, they have to want to save themselves. I did help by divorcing him and taking our now 13 year old son, it made him look at himself but he is still an addict. He is 46 and has been using in one form or the other since he was 10. Yes 10! I didn't believe any woman gets involved with a man with the intention of "fixing" them. I think they hide the problem so well that sometimes it is years before they even know there is something that needs to be fixed and by that time it's too late to get out.

I'm really sorry you had to go through that. I'm so glad you were able to get out of the situation and protect yourself and your son.

I have met a few women who think they're "the one" who can change someone. They're always wrong!
