Reading between the lines, my take on this is that her husband was involved in some shady stuff, perhaps owed money, and she was kidnapped as a result. The fact he SAW her being abducted, and didn't call police until the next morning, says to me he was racking his brains to work out how to get her back without involving police, but failed. The fact she is returning to Guatemala and not her new homeland, and husband, speaks volumes. Do we know if her husband was also from Guatemala, or an American? Perhaps she was lured to America by her husband for nefarious reasons?

All speculation and my thoughts only.

Initial reports state that Jackelin and her husband moved to Auburn from Guatemala about four months ago. So IMO, he was also Guatemalan and she moved to the US with him willingly. MOO

Poor thing, I wish she and her child the best. I hope she’s safe and back with her family soon. What a terrifying experience.

She was found safe in Mexico. LE says she was a victim of illegal activity that she was not involved in.

A 21-year-old pregnant woman reported missing out of Auburn has been found safe in Mexico, and authorities are now working to get her home.

*****
According to police, Perez was kidnapped and brought to Mexico, then was released. Authorities are working to determine what led up to her release.

omg thank you to LE for their stellar work in rescuing her!!!

Organized criminals collecting on a debt accrued during the move to Auburn process?

What? Who kidnapped her? Did she want to go home, did her family want her home? I have to say this is confusing. IMO
My personal feeling was her husband (and thus, her) came here using illegal means, something happened and she was taken as a result of that, likely something she had little knowledge of or any control over. I'm just glad she is safe and will be returned to loved ones who will do their best to keep her and the baby safe.

IMO, I actually thought maybe her family was behind this getting her home. Just a thought

Investigators said several people are being investigated in connection with the investigation, including Perez's husband. Police said Perez's husband got home about 20 minutes after his wife was taken but he didn't call police until the next morning.
The 24-year-old suspect arrested in Houston will be extradited to Washington. Police believe more people are involved and there could be more charges filed.

Update:
But, according to court documents obtained by KIRO Newsradio, a second person was also taken in the violent Auburn kidnapping.

The second person taken, a 17-year-old identified as “E.G.,” is still missing, as of this reporting.

The Auburn Police Department, the FBI and the DEA continue to investigate the exact whereabouts of E.G., who remains missing, as of this reporting

Maybe it’s just my pre-coffee brain, but the story is as clear as mud.

So now we have a minor who borrows large sums of money from her husband and was also in the home and taken by armed men?

What is really going on here?

It seems to have taken a long time for this to come to light. Why the secrecy around this person's name? Could the story of borrowed money be a lie? Could this person actually be involved in the kidnapping? So many questions.

A grand jury indicted Daniel Lopez on Nov. 6. He was arrested in Texas and has been in state custody on charges initially filed in King County Superior Court. Lopez is accused of the Oct. 13 kidnapping of a woman from Auburn. The woman, identified as Jackelin Perez, was abducted at gunpoint from her home and was later found safe in Guatemala.

He pleaded not guilty.
