She's so precious. She's gotta be alive ! I've seen a few cases similar where the child was found alive in the woods and once sleeping under someone else's trailer. I don't know if this many days had gone by but her light is surely still shining somewhere :)

Anyone know what defines "abduction" vs. not?

Great question . :)

http://kidnapping.uslegal.com/state-kidnapping-abduction-laws/washington-kidnappingabduction-laws/

''hold the person kidnapped for ransom or reward, or as a shield or hostage; or
facilitate commission of any felony or flight thereafter; or
inflict bodily injury on him; or
inflict extreme mental distress on him or a third person; or
Interfere with the performance of any governmental function.''

Jenise's family sure put a lot of faith in a six year old's ability to always do the right thing, and be able to discern an adult's motive or behavior.

I understand that she has always been allowed to roam around alone, but that's a lame excuse, and they should quit repeating it as if it's defensible.

Besides that, per their own protocol above; Jenise DID NOT "check in" with anyone Sunday, so how did that "usually" work? If it got close to dinner time and she failed to show up, send one of the siblings to go look for her and bring her home? Sighhhh ...

Exactly!! They say that she was always on her own and that's normal for her and that she always checks in. So..she doesn't check in....ALL DAY and they do nothing about it until that evening. Disturbing. These people don't deserve to parent a chia pet let alone a child.

I have this nagging thought in the back of my mind. Has LE stated they don't think this is an abduction based on some forensics? Or facts uncovered speaking with Siblings? Where are you Jenise!!!!

I can't stop myself reading this thread, but I don't like it one bit. :(

Court records show that Jenise's father, Jim Wright, was accused of molesting an 8-year-old relative and assaulting a 15-year-old babysitter after a night of drinking in January of 2000. Wright entered into a Deferred Prosecution Agreement and the molestation charge was dropped. He pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor assault.

"Investigators don't know if Jenise wandered off or was the victim of an accident, abduction or homicide.
"We have to approach it as if it's a worst-case scenario and hope for the best," Wilson said.
Frank Montoya Jr., Seattle FBI special agent in charge, joined Kitsap County Sheriff Steve Boyer for a late afternoon news conference that emphasized partnership.
"This is all about finding Jenise," Montoya said. He stressed that agents would be working with other agencies on the case and "be able to look at all the pieces of information that could lead to Jenise's recovery."

So abduction is not off the table....... seems ' without a trace' is the story here. There seems to be nothing pointing to any solid theory and nothing to rule out any solid theory. Oh dear :(

Nothing that has been revealed by LE anyway.....I believe they know a lot more than we do.

According to all media sources, including the article I linked to, there are agents from the FBI Child Abduction Rapid Deployment team working this case. Highly trained people who can likely spot evidence leading them one way or another as soon as they're on site. I have no doubt they know a lot more than we do at this point and will likely not divulge most of that to the public. I will say however, the more I learn about this family (from locals who know them) the more I fear it's not going to bode well for this precious little girl. :(

I am so mad. These little girls with their big smiles and warm hearts. It just crushes me to think of the terror they faced. My little girl means the world to me. Please let them find Jenise. Please let this one be different. I can't take another. I just can't.

Are the neighbors allowing their homes to be checked?

I'll never understand why some parents are so trusting. I think they don't watch the news.

Praying that today is the day that we find this beautiful little girl alive and safe.

One of the links here (somewhere) states they do have warrants if needed so all will be checked with or without permission.

This precious little girl was left to wander about. On that Sunday nobody cared if Jenise checked in, had a meal, a cold drink, had injured herself or worse. Why is the big question? And a huge red flag for me. This just breaks my heart and angers me beyond words.

I've known lots of families who let their young children have free reign in their area. It isn't necessarily pathologic; it can be a normal variant that seems to be more common in poverty-stricken neighborhoods, families with many children, and those in rural communities. It is really just a continuation of farm life in the 1800s to early 1900s. I recognize it can be dangerous and I would never do it, but I don't think it is automatically a sign of uncaring or gross neglect. (This isn't in response to any particular comment, just to add perspective to the overall conversation.)
