this question has been niggling my brain, too...

Was JW's dad in the practice of "mentoring" all young men at the MHP?

Or was GG the only one?

and was there an incidence that JW's dad felt necessitated the mentoring?

Did GG's parents request the mentoring?

:dunno:

I dont think mentoring was meant in an official sense. I took it like JWs dad had just taken GG under his wing like many parents do with their kids friends. I know we are "sleuthing" but sometimes words are just words and not meant in a literal sense. The only instance given of this "mentoring" was teaching GG to chop wood. Mentoring means to teach. JW (dad) taught him to chop wood. My dad has taught my husband to work on cars. I guess that could be mentoring, but he was only teaching him because it was something he knew about and my husband didnt. He didnt "mentor" my husband because he had a bad home life or no one to take an interest in his interests. He "mentored" him because it was something he knew about that my husband wanted to learn. Maybe GGs step and/or biological fathers didnt have the knowledge GG wanted, but JW(dad) did. You wouldnt go to an electrician to figure out why your toilet is clogged, would you?

I was just jumping off your comment. I have seen the "mentor" question many times and everytime I go to answer it, we are already on a new thread and I kept hoping it had been answered, but alas, it was still being questioned. So, JMO, I think mentoring was just used as a more sophisticated way of saying he taught him something.

One thing about those pictures at the vigil. I notice he is alone for the most part, aside from being with his mom. Where are his wrestling buddies? Did they not attend, not even one? I guess that's just one still shot of an entire event, but at least to me the candle lighting would be an important part of it and one that, at least with my kids, they would want to share with their friends (at that age).

Every time I see comments about him "mentoring" gg by teaching him to cut wood, I think of Tom Sawyer and whitewashing the fence...and I think of how I "taught" my son's friends to grocery shop (and thusly they were the ones that went three aisles back when I'd forgotten something, they were the ones that loaded and unloaded groceries, and one was even the one that "got" to put the groceries away!)

How does this scenario work? Feel free to shoot it down, improve it, and so on.

I'm well aware this was a sex crime, but perhaps this was a hate crime with sex as the weapon.

In other words, he didn't rape to fulfill his sexual urges but to inflict pain and humiliation against someone else (not necessarily Jenise) as the primary motivation (as opposed to pain and humiliation as a sexual turn-on). Just like in war when soldiers rape women, it's to destroy and dishonor what the enemy loves.

So, yes, he raped a little girl, but maybe it was done out of rage toward someone else. He was a family friend to the Wrights, so the first guess would be hatred/jealousy/revenge against them. It could be rage against his own family. It could be rage against himself and proving to himself and the world how worthless he is to rape and murder a helpless daughter and sister of people who were his friends. It could be rage induced by mental illness and/or drugs. I don't know.

I reserve the right to change my mind, but perhaps he is a predator filled with hate and a desire to destroy, but not necessarily motivated by perverted lust. (Which isn't to say he doesn't have lust, just that it wasn't the motivator for the crime.) He picked a specific target at a specific opportunity, not pre-planned perhaps, but still specifically chosen.

JMO...subject to change!

O/T... The same happened to me...

Could that publication trace all the people from WS trying to read their articles?

and see they may have a "gold mine" of potential subscribers?

:dunno:

No, they went to this policy about a year ago I think. Some articles are free to view, some you must pay to view, and some start out free but become pay status later on. It seems like after a certain time period passes then the Sun newspaper makes the articles for payers only.

I have not read most of the posts in these threads so I don't know what happened that caused the thread to get locked. So I'm hoping as long as I am not naming or sleuthing minors or discussing the parents I will be ok.

The items found in his room are 'his' clothes. Her underwear and shorts were found in the woods.

No doubt in my mind he could get from the wooded area into his house unnoticed.

I believe this crime occurred between 10pm and 7am (Sat to Sun).

I haven't read much here and don't watch NG so I'm just hearing about the possible Burger King trip. I could see that as a possible way for him to lure her. Did MP go too? I read here she walked J home Sat night.

My guess is he lured her with the intention of sexual assault. I think things went wrong and he may have strangled her to silence her and then when he realized he killed her he unleashed major rage at himself on her (blunt force trauma).

I think it is possible he and a friend planned the rape.

He attended the vigil with his mother (not sure who else). And that is the day the FBI came back to his house to obtain his DNA. He lit a candle at the vigil.

It has been said he was/is a quiet kid. Pent up rage/anger?? Did someone abuse him?

All MOO.

BBM

I believe this to be the case as well.

Oh yeah. He's with momma at the vigil. He was with momma in the car. He hid in his room with momma dealing with LE. Very telling behavior IMO.

cassjenise.jpg

Just hoping to clear this up. The woods where Jenise was found is about 2.5 miles away (down the highway, opposite sides) from where Cassie Holden was murdered in 1988. While it's certainly possible the teens in the park knew about it (and GG specifically), even though Cassie died years before any of this were ever born, they may have heard of it and they may have even heard it happened in the woods behind the park. People have a tendency to embellish horror stories and get facts wrong, so maybe GG did hear about it. Also, the creep who killed her (Cassie) wasn't actually a transient, he was living with his brother right in the area. A lot of the media at the time called him a transient though. Not really sure why.

Does anyone know when trash pick would have been, and which landfill services this area? TIA.

Sorry if this has already been answered. I don't know the answers but I did read that they had stopped trash pick up when Jenise was missing to retain it for evidence. I don't know how it was processed.

I looked thru all the pics I took and it doesn't appear he was ever with the group of kidd who gravitated around teen MP.

I've been leaning towards him being more sociopathic. And sociopaths are more prone to rage, less planned out crimes etc. While they do have emotions, they tend to "act" a lot of things out. Not because they don't know what to do, but because they like the act. That is why I am so curious about the timing. What triggered him? Why now?

I think I was thinking of Willow. Is this the case where he said she impaled herself on a stick running through the yard? ( multiple times ) Then he didn't want her to suffer so he ' finished her off ' ? That case has crossed my mind a few times this week . Thanks for remembering her name.

Wow - I hadn't heard of that one. :( The name that came to me early on was Josh Phillips, the kid who murdered little Maddie Clifton. IIRC he claimed he hurt her accidentally then "finished her off" because he was terrified of being punished by his dad. Interesting how many "accidents" result in homicide, eh? Cart before the horse if you ask me....

A box of some kind. Thought maybe Kleenex but looks more like the snack cakes we had there.

Thanks. I just wondered if perhaps they were contributing to a food bank for the Wrights or something. (Not sure if they do such at vigils, but it might be a good idea to do so).

I believe he's just a pedophile, I gave a tweet upthread where another mom of an 11 y/o told him to stay away from her daughter..

The propensity is in him...so he acted on his urge..

Sometimes it is easier to talk with an adult figure -- usually male/male and female/female -- who is not your parent, especially, IMO, if you are a teenager. Let's assume that GG had a good relationship with his step-dad, but maybe JW and GG had more in common, similar interests, or that JW simply took the time to pay attention to him about things that were not wrestling.

I had a close talking relationship with the mother of a close friend of mine. She & my mother were good friends, too, and we were neighbors. We'd just drink coffee and joke, and chat, etc. No secrets from my mom, with whom I was also very close, but my friend's mom was about 10 years younger, and a bit more "with it." I still miss her today, and it's been a long, long time.

I don't think this type thing is that uncommon -- at least with females. IDK about males, but I don't see anything wrong with it ("on paper" in this instance, certainly), and prolly both GG and JW enjoyed each other's company. Teens, especially, don't necessarily share some of their doubts, questions, plans, etc. with their parents even though things are fine between them. It was just that this relationship turned out to be such a ..... betrayal. On purpose or not? Who knoze? I'm not sure that I'm willing to give GG that much credit. JMHO.

Thanks, I just added it to my que! I don't get I.D. with my cable package so I love it that Netflix has added a lot of their shows!

Well, in that case, tell me you know that "Disappeared", Seasons 1 through 5, is on there as well...:)

Curious what you think it tells? Do you think Mom knew/suspected? I have a hunch she suspected when they refused the first DNA swab and used the to figure out what to do.

That child is the same person (MP) who spoke at the vigil and was very close to Jenise.

That would be a good idea but we didn't do that. There were a lot of snacks donated that we had out for the attendees. It could be that she was bringing something to add and realized we already had way too much.
<modsnip>

All posts are MOO[/QUOTE]

Per fb I think that is correct.

It doesn't really matter because they caught him anyway, but it speaks loudly about the family dynamics. A mom asks LE to come back later because her 17yo son cannot manage to help a neighbor in need by opening his mouth for 2 seconds for swipe across the cheek? That's a strange relationship.

ETA: JMO

No ideas to family dynamics, but what would be wrong with mom or dad saying, "C'mon Gabe, stand up and help these guys out. We've got a little girl missing. It doesn't hurt & it'll take about one minute of your time. Do it for Jenise." -- ??

Sorry if my idea caused problems, I didn't intend it to, was just a suggestion.

My head has not been quite here the past few days because of health problems but I just got back from the hospital and I'm gonna live :) Phew, huge sigh of relief. Off to catch up on what I have missed.

It was a great idea, and one that could come in handy someday! :)

I'm so glad you're gonna live!!! Geez, otherwise I'd be like, "Where's skibaboo!!" (Our similar thoughts and their timing during Abby's case were almost creepy they were so alike)

I AGREE. His behavior reminds me of the example given for a sociopath when the guy goes to his mothers funeral and he doesn't know what emotion to play because he has no feelings and he looks at the people morning so that he can can mimic them.
Packerdog, no kidding. That's exactly what his reported actions during LE questioning reminded me of.
remember the movie with Richard Gere /Ed Norton Primal Fear?
Is there a little of that going on? Acting strange but knowing exactly what he's doing?
