I wonder if he hopped the train to Beaverton for some reason. There is a train that runs from Seattle to the Portland area with a stop in Beaverton. The train leaves from King Street Station, which is only a six minute walk from Jeremiahs apartment. He couldve bought a ticket with cash which would leave no trace of him.
I was thinking he drove to Beaverton and used his laptop, drove home that evening.
His cell phone pinged in downtown Seattle two days later.
They didn't search his car because LE doesn't suspect foul play and they don't have a warrant. His car has several parking tickets on it now. Not sure why.

How frustrating!
Doesn't it blow the "crashed drive" theory if he used it in Beaverton? Any IT person worth their salt can wipe a hard drive. Being concerned about data on the laptop doesn't sit well.
Bless you for keeping up with all of this.

There is SAP in Beaverton. I "believe" that is a competitor to Oracle. I do think the laptop is key in the case. Did he sell something to another engineer in Beaverton? This would take knowing what he was working on and had access to in order to understand if that is a possibility.
Good catch. Data is so easy to copy, move, export I doubt it was purely competition driven. Wonder if he had a "no brain drain" clause in his employment contract? Maybe the grass is greener on the SAP side of the fence? If he just wanted to switch jobs, or provide data I would expect there would be activity in his bank account?
Okay, but how does switching jobs fit in with disappearing ? No contact with anyone, no bank activity ?
I don't think it would have to do with switching jobs. I think, IF anything, it would have to do with selling info (data) to someone who wanted it.
The Beaverton ping is interesting and I feel like JF's friends and family might want to publicize it more in terms of asking folks if they saw him in Beaverton that day so that they might get some idea of what he was doing there/whether it's relevant. I also wish friends/family would let people know if the check deposit was completely ordinary (e.g., his paycheck which he cashed every 2 weeks) or possibly out of the ordinary/relevant. Also, how often did JF work from home: was it a regular thing or does it indicate he had something specific that he wanted to do that day? I'd also like to know whether it was usual for JF to stay out so late and/or if the family know where he was/who he was with and have determined that it's irrelevant.
I just feel like there are so many strings here where there should be some definitive answers as to whether or not they're likely to be relevant... I will say that the combo of working from home/laptop crash/laptop missing makes me think that it's all somehow related to his disappearance. I will say that if he was lying about the laptop having crashed, he obviously knew that he wasn't going to be at work the next day b/c there's no way Oracle's IT wouldn't have known he was lying.
