It was last accessed in Beaverton Oregon on Tuesday (July 21st) according to the head security at Oracle.

NO time given

I wonder if he hopped the train to Beaverton for some reason. There is a train that runs from Seattle to the Portland area with a stop in Beaverton. The train leaves from King Street Station, which is only a six minute walk from Jeremiah’s apartment. He could’ve bought a ticket with cash which would leave no trace of him.

Seems this is most likely

I was thinking he drove to Beaverton and used his laptop, drove home that evening.
His cell phone pinged in downtown Seattle two days later.
They didn't search his car because LE doesn't suspect foul play and they don't have a warrant. His car has several parking tickets on it now. Not sure why.

When did he tell his supervisor that his laptop had crashed, and he was going to bring it in with him on Wednesday? How could he or anyone have used it if it truly had crashed ? Was he lying, and if so, why ???

How frustrating!
Doesn't it blow the "crashed drive" theory if he used it in Beaverton? Any IT person worth their salt can wipe a hard drive. Being concerned about data on the laptop doesn't sit well.

Bless you for keeping up with all of this.

There is SAP in Beaverton. I "believe" that is a competitor to Oracle. I do think the laptop is key in the case. Did he sell something to another engineer in Beaverton? This would take knowing what he was working on and had access to in order to understand if that is a possibility.

Good catch. Data is so easy to copy, move, export I doubt it was purely competition driven. Wonder if he had a "no brain drain" clause in his employment contract? Maybe the grass is greener on the SAP side of the fence? If he just wanted to switch jobs, or provide data I would expect there would be activity in his bank account?

Tk1, have friends or family said if he had any ties to Beaverton or the Portland area? Has he traveled there before and if so, why?

  • #151
Okay, but how does switching jobs fit in with disappearing ? No contact with anyone, no bank activity ?

I have no idea, but if we are talking about big data, he might have access to companies' data. I am not trying to jump to the conclusion that he is involved in something nefarious, but I'd rather that then have him
deceased. There is a reasonhe said his hard drive crashed and he took it to Beaverton and then vanished. Maybe he was involved in something and got in over his head and had to go. Or he got enough money from it he could walk away from it all. The scenario of him being depressed and gong somewhere to end his life doesn't really align with the Beaverton trip.

Unless he went to say goodbye to someone, or he was seeing someone there who broke up with him.

I thought his car was still in the parking garage at his apartment complex. If this is correct, why would law enforcement be able to ticket his car for being in a private garage? Doesn’t make sense. Does anyone know if law enforcement is able to search a vehicle if it is impounded? Perhaps this is the way law enforcement is getting around not having a search warrant for his car?

I don't think it would have to do with switching jobs. I think, IF anything, it would have to do with selling info (data) to someone who wanted it.

Yes, I could see that as a possibility.jmo, But, doesn't sound like he was unhappy/resentful about his employer ? Maybe someone took the data from him... just to recap : How did family/friends/LE know about the " crashed laptop" story ? Did oracle tell the family that ? tia to anyone who knows.

The Beaverton ping is interesting and I feel like JF's friends and family might want to publicize it more in terms of asking folks if they saw him in Beaverton that day so that they might get some idea of what he was doing there/whether it's relevant. I also wish friends/family would let people know if the check deposit was completely ordinary (e.g., his paycheck which he cashed every 2 weeks) or possibly out of the ordinary/relevant. Also, how often did JF work from home: was it a regular thing or does it indicate he had something specific that he wanted to do that day? I'd also like to know whether it was usual for JF to stay out so late and/or if the family know where he was/who he was with and have determined that it's irrelevant.

I just feel like there are so many strings here where there should be some definitive answers as to whether or not they're likely to be relevant... I will say that the combo of working from home/laptop crash/laptop missing makes me think that it's all somehow related to his disappearance. I will say that if he was lying about the laptop having crashed, he obviously knew that he wasn't going to be at work the next day b/c there's no way Oracle's IT wouldn't have known he was lying.

I totally agree.
I have one thing to add, if someone was bringing in a crashed hard drive to me tomorrow, I wouldn't start ANY of the tracking until he didn't show. I'm assuming Oracle Security didn't look into the laptop's location until much later? Maybe day's later.
I'm not sure he went to Beaverton, but the laptop did.

I follow the facebook page his family and friends made for him and they have been sharing a lot of info but there has been no mention of Beaverton. Why wouldn’t they share this info? It could be an extremely important clue.

Another question: Does “accessed his computer on July 21” mean he logged on to his actual computer or could he have logged onto his computer remotely from another computer? I can work from “home” anywhere on my personal computer by remotely logging into my work computer.

At this point I kind of hope this is some secret data selling scheme that landed him ridiculously rich in the Bahamas with a new identity. It beats thinking he got mugged and killed for his laptop in his neighborhood by someone who then hopped a train, tried to get online in Beaverton, realized the hard drive had crashed, ditched the computer and is long gone. I don't even know if either of those two options are technically possible, I'm just trying to hold out hope that he is alive somewhere. I did mention checking surveillance at the Amtrak Station (King Street Station) and nearby businesses awhile back before we even knew about the Beaverton ping, but it doesn't sound like LE is doing too much. Or at least not letting the public know about it.
