Yes, LE conducted a two day search in Point Defiance Park. Her phone pinged off South Vashon Tower at around 1:00 pm on Tuesday. Does anybody know how far that is from the boyfriend's house? I'm thinking the phone was powered off by someone and disposed of. The question is, was the phone still with her when it was turned off or the battery died? I don't think they have done any searches since then. It seems like they don't yet have a lead that points to where her body could be.

Imo

So let us think. Usually people power their cellphones at night, so chances are, it did not lose power by 1 pm. It was either turned off, or thrown into the sea in Point Defiance area and pinged off Vashon tower, or, given how close the tip of Vashon island is to point defiance, the phone indeed was on Vashon island at that time.
It is really very close, and she can be on Vashon island as well.

ETA: I did not realize that there was no bridge to V.I. I remember getting there once, but I think we took another route. I wonder if one can get in a car on a ferry between PD and VI, and if there are cameras on the ferry (probably). There was certain hurry, but my feeling is, it was planned, so wherever she is, it is not where people would be immediately looking.

I don’t know how to express it, but the fact that the car was left not too far, with a key on the front seat, with the hope that someone would steal it and take one problem off their hands, probably?

The same principle could be used in dealing with Kassanndra. Either the wildlife, or the ocean stream. Not spending too much time on it themselves. It seems that these people are eager to get the “problem” off their hands. MOO. In this, they are different from the most cases we have read about. Neither CW nor PF. A boat that can overturn, or something like it, but not a lot of “own” investment, so to say. (I don’t know how to put it without sounding horribly callous, because I feel a lot of compassion towards K’s family.) Again, MOO.

says first TEST from clinic

Sorry if this has been answered, I am a few pages behind, I just wanted to ask before I forget - would the clinic have posted the test out to Kassandra with the Covid-19 pandemic?

I am hoping there will be an update today. If I were a reporter, I would be asking LE:
  • Do you know where the POI/ suspect/ ex-boyfriend is located? (Last we heard, LE said they did not know where he was located)
  • If not, will you issue an appeal for him to come in and talk? or a warrant for his arrest, name him, release photo etc? Given the flash bangs "dynamic entry" was deemed necessary to serve the search warrant, it seems this person could be a risk to witnesses/others in the community?
  • Has LE been able to interview the POI/ ex-boyfriend?
  • Is the POI cooperating?
  • Are the other resident(s) of the home cooperating?
  • Have you been able to confirm if any witnesses saw KC or her vehicle after the 8:44 am ring camera footage or is that still the last known sighting?
That said, I do think that LE should have a mountain of data now, based on phone pings/ records and the two vehicles. It might take time to go through it all, but those should yield a lot of information. Maybe there is GPS in the vehicles to indicate locations. It seems likely they would have gotten a warrant for POI's phone too. Also a reminder that at the 9/1 briefing, LE said they had multiple searches underway at different parts of the county. So there are searches we don't know about.

JMO: I think the phone was tossed (it fits with the throw away handling of the vehicle). I doubt the POI took the ferry because of all of the cameras. I agree with @MsBetsy that LE probably determined the phone was in the park. (The house is not near Vashon or the park) I agree with @Charlot123 that canvassing coffee shops or whatnot by the park or such places that CK/POI would likely stop by or suggest as a meeting spot also makes sense.

KC had to have corresponded with the POI at some point, the history on her phone will be helpful. Even though this "disappearance" may have been planned they had to have met in the past and have some type of routine set up. Would love to know work and other routines for supposed BD and others in the home and how the Tuesday and rest of the week looked. I really don't think this is random middle of the day stranger abduction.

Thanks. I can't tell where the house is on the map but I was wondering if the phone could have been near the home when it pinged, if it was only a few miles away. LE must have had a reason to search the park so they must know the phone was last in that area. Imo

Or a POI was there and his phone records show that.

Sorry, it was not me who thought, coffee shops. I thought, meet somewhere, very discreetly, she picks him up, he gets in a car and drives her to a certain place, under a false pretext. She is trusting, but in a wooded area, things change rapidly.

I feel it was planned on his side, but given lack of prior history, this guy is not going to get through elaborate actions afterward. If he has to deal with her disappearance, she is his ex, and the mother of his child. So it should be something like, pushing into the ocean, or bringing to Eastern WA and setting up a fire, but nothing like CW/PF/maybe BM did. It is something where he could leave her, and let the nature/situation do the rest.

Were there fires anywhere that week, August 25, btw?

@Charlot123 I have wondered about the fires too! There is a lot of activity but I don't know the timeline and locations in comparison to this case. I agree with the getting rid of the body quickly! Was probably done by Wednesday at the latest, imo. I am not sure that he would use his truck to do that. Leaning more towards a work auto.

Sorry - I think it was @Seattle1 who suggested the breakfast restaurant possibility. Yeah the nature cliff possibility makes sense definitely and certainly seemed to be an LE focus. I just thought the restaurant/coffee shop idea was an an interesting avenue for sightings/ timeline that may not have been explored and unless there are updates/ suggestions from LE, the friends and family volunteer searchers might want to think about canvassing those places too.

With Kassanndra pregnant and Covid - I don’t think it would be an indoor sit down restaurant. Perhaps a quick meet up at an outdoor coffee shop. Or a place they would usually meet up or had met previously.
I’m wondering why Kassanndra didn’t tell her mom where she was going.

KC could have gotten a text message to lure her somewhere No end to how evil some people can be

I think the first thing the cops would do is work with her cell phone company to get the records of any texts that went to or from her phone. It seems that only Verizon and Virigin Mobile keep text messages and AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint do not BUT they all should keep the record of who is texting who.

Roughly 6 miles as the crow flies between his place and Point Defiance.
I think the phone was either powered off by someone or it was damaged in the water. I think if the person was smart they would have turned the cellphone off until they reached Point Defiance and then turned it back on, even for a few minutes, then either back off or threw it into the water.

Also, one article states the phone pinged 2 miles off a cellphone tower on the island. I think the wording of that is important.

Two miles off a tower on the island - Could have potentially been on the island.
Two miles off the island - Covers the yacht club, Dune Peninsula, the rose garden, part of the zoo, and a good chunk of forest on the point.

Thanks. I can't tell where the house is on the map but I was wondering if the phone could have been near the home when it pinged, if it was only a few miles away. LE must have had a reason to search the park so they must know the phone was last in that area. Imo

Depending on the drive route from Parkland to Tacoma, she could have driven within 800 feet of his house via freeway or a little over a half a mile if she took pac. ave.

IMO, she did -- the grocery store. I think she just left out a side trip.

LE is so quiet. They aren't appealing to the community or doing pressers and updates. Do they have a good idea of what happened and who did it? jmo

It’s frustratingly quiet. I expect they are hard at work on arrest affidavit and getting through all the digital evidence collected. I’m pretty surprised the media isn’t going bonkers on them for losing the POI, but I guess I have been naive before about how the local media is slow to criticize their Local LE since they rely on them as sources.

Yes, I think so.

IMO, they must have also quieted the 3-day volunteer search as well since even that news went dark by Friday. LE must be gathering information from someone. Perhaps somebody is willing to talk for a deal. Unfortunately, DA's offices in the area are taxed right now. Still dealing with defunding police, protests, and politics.

IMO the mom would have checked her phone account and would have told the police if there were texts or calls that morning...but...I don't think...imo...there were any....in my opinion.

Also, I'm getting frustrated when I check in periodically throughout the day and there isn't any news! I hope the family is getting reports from LE.

California, for sure. Started way before the 25th and unclear when it will end.
Oregon- probably. AZ and Montana. Maybe Northern Idaho.

ETA: NW fire blog. Many fires in OR, and some serious ones in WA, such as Okanogan county. I am following his blog now.

I remember in the beginning it being said that they checked and there was no recent call text or email activity. This part really bothers me personally. unless it’s work related I ALWAYS text to check in to make sure “we’re still on for today” So it really leaves me to wonder if she got up her courage and just showed up, with her pregnancy test, to announce the big news. If this is bad news to someone, I can see them flying off the handle in a panic/rage/fear of how this will “ruin” their lives or relationship.

Having a lot of trouble seeing this as being premeditated as clearly he (and thus also live-in gf) would be numero uno on the list to investigate, she had been seen by several people at the house and of course always the possibility she would tell at least one friend of their tryst? (Granted... we’ve seen people be idiots when they feel their life is caving in though)

Just some thoughts!
