Sheriff’s Office Investigating Report of Missing Morton Woman

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a report of a woman missing from Morton since Sunday.

Kristy D. Morgan, 35, of Morton, was reportedly last seen at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday walking from her home near the 100 block of Davison Road. She was wearing a black coat, blue jeans and carrying a pink purse.

She is described as a white female standing 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes.

Volunteers began conducting searches for Morgan Tuesday morning. The Chronicle will update this story when more information is available

Volunteer Search Party Organizes to Help Find Missing Morton Woman
Kristy Morgan, 36, lived on the same road that the volunteers congregated on and was last seen at around 2 a.m. Sunday morning. She was last seen wearing a black coat, blue jeans and carrying a pink purse.

On Monday, Morgan’s shoes, purse and cell phone were found down the road from where she lived, according to Morgan’s niece, Cheyanne Rivera.

Search and Seek Association, a volunteer-based group that offered its services to Morgan’s family, organized the volunteer search party and it was led by the group’s founder Jennifer Hedge.

Hedge said she communicated with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office about any locations in the woods that they did not want the volunteers to go and whether 11 a.m. was a good time to begin the search.

Human Remains Found During Search for Missing Morton Woman
Detectives with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office are investigating after human remains were found Wednesday morning in the Tilton River during a search for a Morton woman recently reported missing.

The remains have not been positively identified, but “appear to be those of an adult female,” according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Kristy Morgan, 35, was reported missing June 21.
