CorallaroC,
(Love your "hat" -very clever!) I just wanted to say thanks for pointing me to those posts re: Harry O.'s search for Lindsey, which I would not have seen otherwise. His comments are certainly disturbing:
(The following snip is an e-mail response from Harry Oakes to a poster at another site, who wrote to him to ask about the results of his search for Lindsey. Thanks to Tamikosmom, and apologies for the rip

we actually tracked up to Beck St then NE To a logging atv road and our search continues there. So far we've located two empty beer bottles, and a track (Scent trail) heading east 6 miles on either a motor cycle or ATV.
we are also (the search dogs) picking up a dead human alert 1/2 mile East of Beck the winds are coming from the south. I can't tell you about anything else we've found. That's been handed over to the McCleary Police.
Note: The death scent on a dead human could be from any "Dead Human" that has died in the area. Not neccessarily the missing child's scent.

I'm confused by this, as Harry O seems to be saying two different things. I suppose both could be true, but...my understanding of search and rescue dogs (admittedly limited) is that each individual dog is trained to search for a specific kind of scent, and that a "tracking"-trained dog, who is given a scent to "track", would not "find" the scent of human remains, nor would a "cadaver dog" locate a scent trail, to track.
I took Harry O.'s "we" to mean Harry and his dog, but perhaps "we" means that there were other "Harrys" with differently trained dogs searching for Lindsey, as well?
If anybody can straighten me out here, I'd appreciate it.
One thing I do know: that e-mail ^ is the first I've heard of either (and both) a death scent being found, or (and) a scent trail 6 miles E. of Beck St.
I will do some research about cabins in the area and get back to you as soon as I have anything
That is so kool. I could use some solitude, can I rent it for a couple of momths? LOl! A post stated that the report was handed over to LE. I wonder if this scent was a fresh scent? The paper reported the LE & Military SAR found no scent initially. Although a reporter stated a faint scent was detected but fading. This was not considered a death scent to my knowledge. Please correct if needed as there are so many post all over the net discussing this. I'm thinking which ever scent was detected, checked out (possibly private searches helped in this area) we would know if it was Lindsey. No one would stop the presses if Lindsey was found. Why would people report this and not carry on to find the location of the scent? A local told me that this area is known to locals as a great place to ride quads ect... but not necessarily a place where a stranger type abduction would know about. This takes me back to LE profilers feeling the person who took Lindsey was someone she new. Not questioning Harry Oaks integrity, but I must ask why a person trained in search & recovery wouldn't call in the mounty and check this scent of death for the report to LE, unless in fact he did check it out and we just haven't heard that yet.BBM...
Ok since I have read this little piece of info it has bothered me alot.
Assuming this is for real I need to get my hands on a topo map of McCleary, A scent trail heading east (6 miles) on an ATV or Motorcycle..that tells me alot...
Are there many remote cabins at all up these logging/ Atv roads in McCleary or surrounding area?
We have a cabin that is in the mountains. It sits at 11,000 feet in the middle of nowhere, you have to drive (if your lucky) an old switchback mining road, and then from what we call our staging area you either have to hike in on foot or ride an ATV to get in the rest of the way in to the cabin. You would never know it was there, ever unless you just happened to stumble upon it, it sits right in the middle of the deep forrest.
LOL, it is ok , no they are not supposed to ride their atvs and such through town but it has been done.
Yes that logging road does connect to hwy 108 supposedly as far as shelton also connects with hwy 8 near summit lake area
I was asked to post a notice on the forums I am a member of.. this is not directed to anyone in particular. It's just something that we need to have very clear.
From the Lindsey Baum Search Center
Please be advised that when you signed up to Volunteer to search for evidence to help us find Lindsey Baum you were advised that NO INFORMATION was to be talked about whether online, to friends, family or ANYONE. This includes not sharing information pertaining to any searches that you were on, heard about nor any pictures that you may have taken - NOTHING.
This may seem like a strict rule and one that can be difficult to follow sometimes but it is crucial that this rule is followed to a T. This not only jeopardizes our ability to continue searches it also could potentially put Lindsey into more danger.
IF YOU HAVE POSTED ANY INFO ON FORUMS (RE: SEARCHES) PLEASE DELETE OR CONTACT THE MOD AND HAVE IT REMOVED
Just a little added note to Jennifer O's post:
WE HAVE PUT A LOT OF EFFORT INTO GETTING A SEARCH CENTER GOING AND TRUST ME IT WAS NOT EASY ON ANY OF US. NOW THAT WE GOT IT UP AND RUNNING IT WOULD ONLY TAKE ONE SMALL ERROR FROM SOMEONE ON A SEARCH TEAM OR AT THE SEARCH CENTER TO HAVE US SHUT DOWN FOR GOOD. EACH AND EVERY TEAM IS INSTRUCTED ON WHAT TO DO AND WHAT NOT TO DO. WHAT SHOULD BE SAID IF ANYONE ASKS IS THIS
"YOU KNOW AS MUCH AS WE KNOW" BECAUSE THAT IS THE TRUTH. NOT ONE PERSON THAT GOES OUT SEARCHING OR THAT WORKS AT THE LINDSEY CENTER IS QUALIFIED TO MAKE ANY DECISIONS OF WHAT MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT BE RELATED TO THIS CASE. SO PLEASE EVERYONE OUR GOAL IS TO HELP FIND LINDSEY AND BRING HER HOME THAT IS THE BOTTOME LINE.
SORRY JEN I JUST HAD TO THROW MY 2 CENTS IN![]()
