You know, I've been reading a lot of different posts from several different boards, and I realized something; a whole lot of people seem to think that McCleary is a small, close-knit community. I'd be more likely to describe it as a high school atmosphere: a bunch of people who haven't really grown up and prefer to remain in their cliques without interacting with "outsiders" too much.

I've never actually been very comfortable going into town, don't know very many people, but I'm a people watcher and remember quite a few people from when I was in school who probably have no idea who I am. I'd say one of the reasons people in town aren't doing much to help is because it's outside their circle, or maybe because they don't want to find out that someone they know could be responsible. I also think that people prefer to be in denial than admit that the area isn't as safe as they thought.

I'm going to stop here because my train of thought derailed...when I get it back on track I'll reach my point.

I'm supposed to have my granddaughter.. there is no way in hell I'm packing a 35 lb 19 month old through the woods.
If I can get my brat up early enough I'll make her watch the baby and I'll be there.. otherwise I will be there on Sunday for sure.
I feel bad that I can't make it to these things. Damn life!

I'm right there with you...if I can manage to talk one of my parents into watching the kids I'll join the search...otherwise I'll have to sit and wonder like everyone else is doing.

Well...I mentioned something like this today. We did see some people out and about. But to me...it was weird. It's like the residents aren't really there. I mean...we were so obvious. And they just ignored us. Like we weren't there.

I don't know how else to describe it.

If they admit you're there, they have to admit there's a problem. It's kind of like dealing with a family member with a drug problem or an eating disorder; you have to admit there's a problem before you can deal with it.

Breanna your feelings match mine and my husbands. We travel in & out of Mccleary on our travels & it is like the twighlight zone. My first report of town I spoke of how the men seem to look down as if they didn't want to make eye contact. This was last mon. Store clerks stated that the town seemed to becomming settled and children are starting to play again. I was there yesterday and it just seemed sadly off and creepy. Sush a shame there isn't more of that small town vibe of "We take care of our own" I have to ask those who searched if whoever new there were searches in the area gave encouragement & thanks? I know that is not why all volunteer as it is selfless act of kindness but boy can those words, shakes & hugs keep one going.

Twilight Zone is a good way to describe it. I'm like really....WAKE UP people. One of your own children is missing. She just disappeared!!! I don't get it. Why aren't they more concerned? Why aren't they showing up to search? But it's McCleary. I'm not putting the town down. Not at all. But I don't understand their acceptance of this. I wish I could understand

When I left there tonight I saw lots of people out and about. Kids, cars, people walking. Life goes on yanno? I think that's their mentality.

Anyway....another search day tomorrow so goodnight all!

You know if I was parent there, I would be worried, especially knowing that lindsey hadn't been found and nor the person or persons who might have taken her. Think that would leave me with a very insecure feeling. But to state the town is settling down and children have started to play again. Something is wrong with that picture. I wonder for how long until something else happensand then people wished they would of done something. Don't they understand they should be helping out its their town their home, as well as safety of their own children. OOH my. I am sorry I guess I just don't understand that thought process. I am sorry, I guess tonight has really hit a nerve. I am praying that the town comes to their sense s and offer more help to find this young lady or at least tell what they know even if it doesn't seems so significant. At least they would be helping.

When we were standing in the middle of Maple today.. I thought it was weird that no one paid attention. They just drove by (one--the blonde chick in the blue truck) almost ran us over. What the hell?

Uh.. last weekend during the searches MBs son J was allowed to run all over town. :)

And on another note, DD and I are good. We talked, we have an understanding of what was said, who said it and we will work on getting to the bottom of all the different rumors. I think having someone local will be a help to her researching.

Anyway, my husband is home and I haven't seen him in a few days. I'm off to talk to him.

night all

Good luck to all the searchers tomorrow and thank you. Nite all.

good luck with the search all... God bless all of you & hope that lil Lindsey comes home soon.

OT...Be kind to the LSU fans this weekend :) My husband and I were going to make the trip and would have loved to have had time to go to McCleary too ... he has to work Sunday night so the trip would have been a little hard on him so we had to pass on it :(

It's stories like this that give me hope!

Missing boy found alive, hidden at grandma's home
ROYALTON, Ill. — Authorities say a boy allegedly abducted in a custody dispute two years ago has been found alive, hidden behind a wall at his grandmother's southern Illinois home.

What a beautiful boy jvk, sorry to see it was so soggy there.

  • #438
Is that a search dog? (sorry I'm pretty dumb when it comes to K9 stuff). If so, is it looking for a live scent? Thanks

  • #439
No he's just one of my labs. But his nose was workin overtime today. He's fairly young & just figuring things out.

Hope you gave him extra treats for all his hard work. You probably deserved a treat or two yourself. Anything interesting that you can tell us?
