I agree with your theory, SS. If she was snatched between 5th and 6th on Maple, then her abductor would almost have to be one of the very few people living right there, since the street is not well travelled, it's quiet, and no one's reported strange cars. But if she headed up to Simpson, it widens out the possibilities and makes perfect sense as far as what a 10 yo might do.
But she also says that her daughter watched Lindsey until she reached the end of their road. Does she mean the end of Maple, I wonder? If not, what end of what road is she referring to?
She's inconsistent. Just no way to get around it.

The end of the road (actually, block) would've been 7th (the first cross) she'd pointed this out when i spoke w/her.

As far as her knowing of a witness or through some one else hearing Lindsey had taken an alternate route. It appears to be just that. Which is != "she stated Lindsey had taken a different route"

I'm still worried about JM's house being right there, and would really, really like to know if a creek runs down 2nd or around it.
There are a lot of "denser" areas on that way home, and definitely more residential than going towards simpson.

Thanks~ I never take my "feelings" lightly and have been outspoken about areas before only if they really capture my interest for a reason.
I have not gotten any verification except the dog searched near the bridge. From the photos tho...it did not appear that searchers were looking recently. This bothers me.
If I had the ability, I would be on the scene everywhere. LOL The locals are doing a fabulous job tho! Kudos!!
I have to say that JVK is right. When you are out and doing this kind of thing...you can't have them looking at everything you come across as suspicious. Discretion is paramount to credibility. The screwdriver in the tree is something which should be identified.

I wish I could say, "Don't feel that way!", but after you meet someone...you have to use your gut feelings to determine if you believe them or not based on your own perceptions. There is no reason to think you would not have a biased opinion, but tempered with fact and other factors...to develop a reasonable expectation of those "feelings". People can lie to our faces easily and it is up to us to figure out the truth or at least a percentage.

LE did say her "scent" was vanishing in the areas such as the park where she was known to have been.
Again...the trained dog is only as good as the trainer and we don't know the history on any of these dogs. Anyone? Are they the state dogs being used or from private resources?

Lindsey was last seen at the corner of 6th and Maple heading home from her friend's house at about 9:15 p.m last Friday.
Fonda Voss is making sure visitors to nearby Straddleline ORV park are being reminded about Lindsey's disappearance. It's a big travel destination and one of the entrances to the Capitol Forest.
"The trails are very big. The Capitol Forest is 80,000 acres. Just keeping people aware when they're out on the trail to just keep their eyes open. It's a big area out there," she says.
At the request of the FBI, Clear Channel Communications also has agreed to put an alert about Lindsey up on their brand new digital billboards through the Kent Valley.
Meanwhile, FBI agents will be working through the holiday weekend, following up on dozens of tips that continue to come in.

Grays Harbor County Undersheriff Rick Scott says crews searched until 10 p.m. yesterday and are out again today. They have no strong leads.
"The likelihood that she's been removed from the community is growing ever greater because we've searched the whole community," Scott said.
Local police, Grays Harbor County deputies and officers from several surrounding communities are hitting the streets this weekend, in case a witness they haven’t spoken with happens to be in town. Scott said it will "look like a police convention is in town."
Investigators hope someone’s habits will help them find Lindsey. Scott is urging people to report any unusual behavior that might point to an abductor, such as suddenly cutting or dyeing hair, an unexplained absence from work or cuts or bruises on the arms and face.

On the night before Independence Day, the Baum family wasn’t making plans to drive around and scope out store parking lots for the best viewing spot for fireworks displays, as they’ve done in years past.
As the one-week anniversary of the evening of Lindsey’s disappearance approached, investigators concentrated on developing a profile of what the town might have looked like exactly a week earlier.
“We’re trying to re-create a snapshot as best we can of how McCleary looks on a Friday night,” according to Undersheriff Rick Scott.
“We’ll be checking to see what businesses are open, what their customer base is. ... We’ll be flooding the corridor to see who travels though town on a regular basis at that hour.”
He said law enforcement officers would be focusing on questioning people like couriers or delivery workers, whose jobs regularly bring them through town Friday nights, on the theory that perhaps one of them might have seen something that could lead investigators to Lindsey’s whereabouts.
Baum’s father, who lives in Tennessee, had booked a flight to Grays Harbor this weekend, but Scott said he wasn’t scheduled to arrive until late Friday night.

Scott said investigators have been following every tip that comes in, but so far most have come to a dead end.
Late this week, investigators had sent Baum’s computer in for forensic testing. Scott said investigators had been able to gather some preliminary information, but it had “yielded nothing.”
Scott said in the coming days, the Sher iff’s Office would also be re-examining interviews that have already been conducted to see if any would warrant any follow-up questions.
As to when or if the search will expand to western parts of Grays Harbor and past the borders of neighboring counties, that depends on what happens by the end of the weekend.
“We’re going to evaluate everything and see what we need to do next,” Scott said. “As the ripples expand further, the miles of logging roads of timberland become so huge we can’t thoroughly search that. It’ll take a long time. The plan for next week will depend on what we can find out Saturday and Sunday.”

Mason County Sheriff's Deputies have been asked to assist in the investigation of the disappearance of 10-year-old Lindsey J. Baum of McCleary. Four detectives from the Sheriff's Office Special Operations Group are assisting the McCleary Police Department and Grays Harbor County Sheriff's Office in following up on a large number tips coming in about the disappearance. Mason County Detectives have also assisted the investigation by verifying addresses and providing information to the investigation about registered sex offenders in west Mason County. Lindsey went missing last Friday, while walking home from a friend's house about ten blocks to her home. Also, people don't have to be liars to be unreliable or inconsistent. Some people (really, most people) just allow things to pop out of their mouths sometimes that they haven't really given a lot of thought to. Some tend to exaggerate their involvement or knowledge or to minimize it, but not to the point of lying.
When KK says her daughter watched Lindsey walk to the end of their street, she isn't lying if she means her daughter watched Lindsey walk the short distance to 7th, but her info isn't reliable either, at least not to people who are going to parse and analyze every word and nuance.
When she posts about a witness that has reported that Lindsey took an unusual route home that night, she may mean only that she's heard idle gossip to that effect. Or she may mean she has knowledge that someone told that to the police or to her personally. But she's very vague about where that info comes from, so it can't be relied on either.
I don't really think KK had anything to do with Lindsey's disappearance (at least no more than I'd think any other particular person did) but I don't trust that she is careful that everything she says is completely accurate.

I know anyone placed in her position would hate to be there. I also know for a fact, I would feel so guilty if one of my kiddo's friends had asked to spend the night and I turned her down...only for her to go missing. It has to be a horrendous burden.
Would I be on the internet asking for answers and help?! Darn straight I would since it is the world I am used to here. Maybe it is the same for her...she is used to being here and wants to do "something even if it is wrong". I can't say it is a bad thing.

8:15? - Friday evening hours - Kayla and Lindsey seen in video store with group of friends - laughing & joking!
(eyes asks: did they rent videos? Where and when were they going to watch them?)
8:25 - Lindsey and Kayla walked to Lindsey's home - Lindsey showered, changed clothes. Mom Baum said Lindsey left without cell phone, money or clothes.(eyes unable to figure out if video store was before or after walk to Lindsey's home)
8:45? - Lindsey, K, and brother (pushing bike) leave for friend's house to inquire if Lindsey could stay the night. Neighbor saw Lindsey and brother squabbling over brother's bike and sent brother home (eyes asks: where did this altercation take place?)
9:00? - Lindsey arrived at friend's home and was told by mom and dad she could not stay the night and needed to leave due to impending darkness - Lindsey left to walk the 4 blocks home.
9:15 - a woman on her way to work (car) saw Lindsey walking on Maple between 5th & 6th street...about 1/2 way between the two homes.

OR (another version) - Lindsey was leaving her friend’s home between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday, traveling from Maple Street to Mommsen Road. Scott said a neighbor spotted her “two-thirds of the way home,” still on Maple Street.
AND - a 2nd witness has come forward saying Lindsey was seen walking

“We have her coming back from the residence alone consistent with the friend and friend’s family,” Scott said. “We cannot put her to the main street here or to the street in front of her house. This wasn’t somebody who said she saw someone who looks like (Lindsey) or might have been; she was very confident it was Lindsey because she knew her and was on her way to work.”
The “main street” is South 3rd Street and it is a busy thoroughfare near City Hall, connecting to freeways in multiple directions. The police station is within sight of the intersection. The street requires a crosswalk and pedestrian control walking signals. On Friday, the streets were lighted. The sun was still out.
There is a Shell gas station at the intersection and a bus station with a bench that looked like it was in regular use at least on Monday. Scott said video surveillance at the Shell station are being reviewed. (a later update posted by by Angel Who Cares says Lindsey was NOT seen on the surveillance of the Shell gas station)

9:00? - Lindsey arrived at friend's home and was told by mom and dad she could not stay the night and needed to leave due to impending darkness - Lindsey left to walk the 4 blocks home.
9:15 - a woman on her way to work (car) saw Lindsey walking on Maple between 5th & 6th street...about 1/2 way between the two homes.

OR (another version) - Lindsey was leaving her friend’s home between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday, traveling from Maple Street to Mommsen Road. Scott said a neighbor spotted her “two-thirds of the way home,” still on Maple Street.
AND - a 2nd witness has come forward saying Lindsey was seen walking

“We have her coming back from the residence alone consistent with the friend and friend’s family,” Scott said. “We cannot put her to the main street here or to the street in front of her house. This wasn’t somebody who said she saw someone who looks like (Lindsey) or might have been; she was very confident it was Lindsey because she knew her and was on her way to work.”
The “main street” is South 3rd Street and it is a busy thoroughfare near City Hall, connecting to freeways in multiple directions. The police station is within sight of the intersection. The street requires a crosswalk and pedestrian control walking signals. On Friday, the streets were lighted. The sun was still out.
There is a Shell gas station at the intersection and a bus station with a bench that looked like it was in regular use at least on Monday. Scott said video surveillance at the Shell station are being reviewed. (a later update posted by by Angel Who Cares says Lindsey was NOT seen on the surveillance of the Shell gas station)

Please don't feel this way on my account. I agree and 2nd everything SS and Steadfast have said in regards to this. I have not labeled KK, at least not yet. I am keeping an open mind about her, but am also trying to remember all I have learned here over the last couple of years. Everything is not always what it seems, and that goes both ways. Sometimes someone cries - but they cry for themselves and sometimes someone cries and they are actually crying for the missing.

Why did school get out on June 16th at 10:00 a.m.? Is that weird to anyone but me? I would have thought it would have been at least a 1/2 day ending around noon or so. It hardly seems worthwhile to get everyone up and off to school so they can come home 2 hours later?

I have to wonder if we put ourselves in Lindsey's head...what was going through her mind? In order to decide where she would have gone or how she would have reacted in any given circumstance, we have to guess at what went on with her at the time prior to the abduction (which I have never believed she went missing on her own).
