Ya Ya, for about 6 years! lol

That ball park came from a post I read here when the fire in Capitol Forest was first mentioned. A local poster here then determined there was no ball park there and so we assumed the mentioning of a park had innocently morphed from something else. Maybe campground. xox
It mentioned a field. ;)

Still, I want to know about any ballgames or practices at the park in McCleary.

I'm going back over old media reports. i found this one which I have seen before, but it made me think this time.

She wasn’t intentionally supposed to be alone,” Melissa Baum said. “She was with a friend and was supposed to come back together. And it was a fluke because normally she would have her cell phone with her. She takes her cell phone everywhere.”

http://www.thedailyworld.com/articles/2009/06/30/local_news/doc4a4a53f8addf4694664243.txt

If this is someone who knew her they would've known she always had her cellphone (my 12 yr old thinks she can't beathe w/o hers). So who would have known she didn't have her cellphone? only the people who seen or talked to her after leaving her house. That would be the people in the Kampen/Williams residence that night, and the brother so far. The sighting of her after leaving the Kampen/Williams residence obviously did not talk to her so she would not know for sure, and the other sighting on the way to the Kampen/Williams residence has not been confirmed by LE.
So just who was at the Kampen/williams residence that has not taken a poly? i don't believe Kampen or Williams are directly invovled. I sure want to know who else was in that home that night. oh and I also do not think the brother is invovled. Though i would like to know if he went straight home. He could've stopped off to talk to some adult he knows. maybe grumbling about his sister and maybe mentioning i hope she enjoys walking back without me or her cell phone.

There is just nothing new to go on.

This is all just me thinking out loud!!

Sorry to say this, but NOT discussing what Kara K. reveals, no matter if it is an opposing forum, is just plain silly.

I think she is honest.

Those are just my opinions. I tend to be honest too.

I'm sure you are Amanda. It might go deeper than we know. For one thing we have not heard she has taken a LD test and yet her BG has. Rather odd. Vacillating info put out there is always a red flag to me so my hinky meter is a twittering tonight in that regard.

I am guilty for posting questions to her which I won't do anymore. Considering she is one of the last people on earth to supposedly see Lindsey alive, one never knows what liability there could be to the forum owner even if she is who she says she is. I now believe it is better left alone. The truth will come out anyway as the investigation progresses.

If I didn't have plans out of town this weekend I'd go to the ballfield and talk to some of the players/spouses and find out what the standard schedule for their use of the park.

I see that there is a community center in McCleary that can be rented for events. There is no schedule of rentals that I can see from their site, however I wonder if there was a party, show, or workshop in the building that Friday night that would bring people in from out of town?

It is a good question! Not a very well taken care of church tho...unless it is the back of the one in the other photo that looks so nice.

according to this news article WW was associated with the Evergreen Christian Community:

http://www.thedailyworld.com/articles/2009/07/01/local_news/doc4a4baa38c6082474655699.txt

which according to their website the McCleary campus is on Pine:

http://www.ecconline.cc/ecconline/mccleary_campus.shtml

so could the church in the photo taken from Fir be this Evergreen Community campus?

I don't remember seeing anyone setting anything up when I drove by at 6, but that doesn't mean nothing was there. A larger building that gets used more often for events is the VFW hall at the opposite side of Beerbower Park from the City Hall/Fire/Police Station. It's right next to the playground portion of the park by a retirement appartment complex. Once a month or so I see it getting set up for a dance on either a Friday or a Saturday night.

OT: It's surprises me how hard it is to come up with some of the stuff I see regularly. It doesn't hit my mind until someone asks a question about something, and I drive through town at least 4 days a week and have lived in the same house for 20+ years with the occasional foray to living in Olympia or elsewhere.

I will check the local paper to see if they had any game reports. :)

Ooooo...now see that could become important if they had a dance that night. I know a thing or two about those VFW hall "dances". They do like to party.

I believe the people I've seen outside the VFW at the monthly (I think) dances are Hispanic, so I've thought it could be a community Salsa dance or some such thing.

The VFW is also one of the more common locations for weddings, garage sales, fundraisers, and random other activities.

Just like Melissa Huckabee did. She was all over the place trying to direct attention away from her by putting out false information.

ETA: Besides that, each time KK recounts the evening, the facts are different. Lindsey was only there a few minutes. Why does the story keep changing? That, in itself, makes me suspicious of her.

Do they have a large Hispanic population in McCleary?

In 1996, I lived near the small town of Hanford, Calif. A little girl disappeared. There was a HUGE outpouring from the town...yellow ribbons on every telephone pole. They found her in a neighbor's backyard kiln. The killer was staying at the residence temporarily in a trailer parked in the driveway. Little Traci's last known whereabouts were at THAT house - no one suspecting that the visitor was her killer.

I just wanted to mention that - NO ONE can be ruled out as a suspect. I haven't thought of this case in a long time, but for some reason, it is pulling at me now.

Here's a link about the case (scroll down a bit) for anyone interested.

I believe the dances are set up as a community event with people coming from Elma, Shelton, Aberdeen...all of the surrounding areas. The population in McCleary itself is not all that large.

Does the VFW have a bar that is open to members and guests on Friday nights? Are there any windows in the building, and is it anywhere near Lindsey's walks through town? I ask because I also bartend at our local VFW when I am not working at the library.
The general public cannot just hang out there. You needed to have served in a foreign war or have a member sponsor you. Although, some sponsored people become "honored guests" and can stay on their own recognizance.

What about a theories thread where we can use any information that we find/read/sleuth in order to come up with our own theories/thoughts/possibilities? We have had these kinds of threads for other cases.

That is true, for a VFW event. However, in small towns in the Pacific northwest, any large "room" can become a community center almost. In our town, the city hall has a room that is rented out for all kinds of things - from dances to scrapbooking parties to circuit court to city council meetings and beyond. It is not unusual at all.

Sounds like a great idea to me! Add a thread :woohoo:

I'm not saying it's not unusual. I was just wondering what, if any events other than the bar being open to members that night, was going on at the VFW? Like you said-were there any classes, dances or meetings there that night like they do at the community center?
