WA - Lindsey Baum, 10, McCleary, 26 June 2009 - #4

Okay. The-hall itself-does not have a bar. Does the VFW have a canteen? (Bar for Members)

No, it is nothing at all like that. It's just a big room with a kitchen and some bathrooms and a smaller side room. It doesn't have a restaraunt, bar or any hired staff working there like the Elks club or Moose lodge. I've been there for wedding receptions and class reunions.

Two things I noticed while looking at JVK's photo thread:

A fireworks trailer is sitting on what looks to be Simpson and 3rd. Does anyone know how long before the 4th it was there and who owned or ran it during the time?

Also, I noticed a truck selling produce. Is this a local person and do they set up regularly on that corner?

You are right about both of those. I know for sure they were both there on Saturday, June 27th. I don't know who owns or runs either one. I can tell you, I bought produce from the truck on that Saturday as well. I had gotten 2 phone calls from the police dept that morning saying that Lindsey was missing...so of course, I was suspicious of the produce guy and couldn't help but check his hands for defense wounds..lol. His hands were scratched up, but all old wounds..probably from picking produce. I got the impression he is from Yakima where he gets his produce. Can't verify that though.

Were those calls from police done using a 'reverse 911' system, or something like it? I ask because our LE in San Diego used that when we had those terrible wildfires, and it was a very effective way to notify who should evacuate and when. I'm sure it saved a lot of lives...but, I've never heard of it being used when a child was missing. Brilliant, if they indeed used it in this case!

I'm glad to know you were looking out for Lindsey so soon.

I think FL does the reverse 911 thing in some areas, if not statewide. I think one went out in C Anthony's case, using GA's voice. I have always liked the states that do this. Unfortunately, as far as I know, MI doesn't, but I wish we would start.

Does the VFW have a bar that is open to members and guests on Friday nights? Are there any windows in the building, and is it anywhere near Lindsey's walks through town? I ask because I also bartend at our local VFW when I am not working at the library.
The general public cannot just hang out there. You needed to have served in a foreign war or have a member sponsor you. Although, some sponsored people become "honored guests" and can stay on their own recognizance.

As far as I'm aware, this VFW doesn't have a bar...all they have is a rather large kitchen. This Saturday night there's a dance there I'm going to try to attend if I get back to town early enough so I can look around again and see the set up.

PrimeNews & Issues with Jane has at least given Lindsey's case aprox. 10mins. tonight...Let's hope that NG gets back to the missing & away from MJ news. Let the tabloids, TMZ, & Showbiz Tonight cover any updates on him now that the memorial is over.

Lindsey needs her name & picture out there in case someone has taken her out of the state etc. I've heard enough on MJ though my heart goes out to his kids & their loss! JMHO!

How far is Tacoma from where Lindsey lived. I don't know if anyone seen this article or not, but you just never know if this could be related or not.

An 18-year-old woman said she was attacked as she walked to a bus stop in Tacoma Wednesday morning.

The woman said she was walking at about 7:30 a.m. when a man tried to drag her into the woods.

She said when the man grabbed her, she clung to a nearby fence.

&#8220;She felt like he was trying to drag her into the wooded area, she resisted and grabbed onto a fence and screamed,&#8221; said Tacoma police officer Mark Fulghum.

The woman said he let go and ran away when she screamed for help. She ran home and called police.

Fulghum said the teenager did not get a good look at her attacker because he came at her from behind and then ran before she could get a good look at him.

Neighbors told KIRO 7 they are concerned about the boldness of the attack.

I'm so sorry that you misunderstood....I'm praying that by tomorrow though, that HLN's shows devote their whole hr to Lindsey.:crossfingers: JMHO.

My main point is we don't know where Lindsey is & I just want NG to get back to the missing cases, esp. Lindsey's.:wink: Time is of an essence & we have lost a lot of time..... that would have been devoted to her on all 3 of these shows.......had it not been for MJ's passing.

boondock ITA that the local news isn't hardly covering Lindsey. It shows in the too far & few between articles that are available on line too! :shakehead: You would think they would give some kind of an update & that the sheriff/LE would have had more than the one news conference on the case too!

It breaks my heart that out of all of the news links that today, there has only been 2 articles on Lindsey. You would think that with yesterday being her birthday, they would have had more yesterday & today. I don't care if they don't have any earth shattering update to give, at least let us know they are still looking for her & haven't stopped in anyway doing so.

I really wish that someone would inform Lindsey's parents to contact TES to come help. The request needs to come from her family or LE in order for him to come, that is if he is available. I know Tim would come or at least speak with LE to see if he could assist them in anyway with a team coming there.

I don't know what system was used, I just know our house was called at least three times on Saturday with the same recorded message.

Hi A_Closer_Look, In looking at WW for taking Lindsey are there any situations where a child went missing at the same time he lived in her/his community?

That is why I classify him in the same category as WK as there is nothing we have learned about him being sexually overt to a child.

I do believe what the Astro thread has said in that they believe she was taken for sexual purposes {although I hope it was something else ;}

I have also been reading the astos thread (my fav thread!!). what I got from it was she was taken for sexual purposes, and that the guy has had a run in with LE. I took it to mean he has some kind of record. but maybe has not been caught doing a sexual crime as of yet. There are many SO out there that have not been caught yet.JM:twocents:

ITA That there are many SO that have not yet been caught....sad but so true. I pray that Lindsey is found soon, good or bad. If she is gone the sooner the better, before evidence isn't lost to find the perp.

I have NG on my facebook. They post on there during the day what she is going to talk about on her show. She gets at least 100 negative MJ messages on there every day. Everyone is saying enough with MJ lets find the missing kids. I guess she doesn't read her messages!

Did you read about the guy with Zicane in his MS link posted on the Astro thread? He is connected to a friend of Lindsey's who is 14 and she is linked to Lindsey's MS page. He is about 20, she thought 30, and he made a sexual advance to this teenager by trying to kiss her. Freaked her out.

It would be interesting to see what posters here think about that and hope someone will bring it over here as I asked for. My d & p is not working :waitasec: xox


Here we have a case of an overt sexual act by a man on a teenage girl in McCleary. That is the first thing in this case I have seen that could be a real possibility till we learn anything different about him. To me WW is like WK as there is no evidence of a sexual advance by either guy's part towards a teenage girl. IMO

ITA Angel, but all these SO's begin somewhere. I could easily see a guy in his early 20's who knows a younger teenage girl well enough to be a friend on her MS page suddenly changing the parameters by trying to give her a full blown kiss out of the blue as the way a SO would get started.

Wouldn't you think they work up to the actual abduction of a girl?
