Not to be a stick in the mud, but I really don't think that anyone should be going door to door, especially residential doors, without the approval of LE. Even with the approval of LE, I don't think it's such a hot idea, as there is a very good probability that the person they would be looking for would be a killer.

Let's not get carried away, especially when it could end in more tragedy.

I tend to agree with you. I'd never consent to a search of my home without LE there. Just too many crazies out there, I'm just not that trusting of people anymore.

Once my 8 yr old saw a man through the window from our den luckily my door was always locked. I was cooking dinner and home on maternity leave. I keep telling her to hush because the baby was sleeping but she was insistant that I come look. Suddenly he tried to get in then he knocked asking for money for McDonalds around the corner. I told him to leave that I didn't have any cash, that I was calling the cops. Lucky for us he left, I saw him that night on the news...he'd been trying this in my neighborhood then getting access to the house and raping whomever would let him in.

My point is that if you open your door you really don't know who you're letting in your home. jmoo

I agree that normally it should not be done, but if LE won't do it then who is left? If LE effectively and efficiently investigates things that should clearly be investigated, then no trouble. I am in no way disagreeing with you, unless you are suggesting that "lack of complete investigation" is a good and wise procedure. Investigate as deeply and as intensively, according to law. That is my suggestion as the most excellent way

If the goal is to protect and investigate, and the owner of the abode allows entrance, then that's enough, imo. And that would be the approach. If someone clearly says, no way, then that's the end of the matter.

I just want those homes checked out, I want to know that Lindsey is not sitting, all tied up, in some basement or closet, being raped nightly. I apologize for my goals

Unfortunately my camera is broken so I can't go get pics.

As for Rounders, they serve alcohol and have a cafe attached...but that's all they have. Everything else can be purchased at the grocery store just down Simpson, at the gas station diagonally across Simpson, or at the Shell. There's also a restaurant sharing the building Rounders is in.

Thanks McCleary, Re: Mr E Cole, in the notice it didn't give an address but mentioned Grays Harbor. Do you think they are being general and he was probably picked up in Aberdeen which is the County seat?

The reason I ask is I think there is also a little town called Grays Harbor closer to the coast. Could they have picked him up there or somewhere that was not in an incorperated city? Like out in the boonies?

The info from momtective clearly shows that Eric J. Cole has mental problems. He was ordered to have psyc evals., evaluations determining 'competency' to stand trial, diagnostic evals., and results in sealed envelopes. My guess is that he has a severe mental illness that prevents him from following rules such as registering as a sex offender. His sex offenses were in the category of misd., not to minimize this man, but he seems very disturbed. His address shows as a PO box in Olympia, Wa., and he is said to be a blue collar worker. His files in Va had him as 'self employed'. If he's off his meds or experiencing extreme mental deficiences, it may take awhile for him to question him appropriately. mho

Yes, but anyone doing that on their own without the protection of a group of searchers (like search and rescue and volunteers were doing) or law enforcement is just making yourself a target, and should not be attempted. There are a lot of ways to deal with investigating, but safety should come before anything else.

And the FBI did a door-to-door knocking of the area...I'm sure if their hinky meter went off due to denial of entry or any other reason they would look harder at those people.

They could have picked him up anywhere in the county from McCleary to the beach. Most of the county is unincorporated, so it's most likely if it just says Grays Harbor, he was probably picked up outside one of the towns and not in a town proper.

I'm not saying that this case has been handled in the best way and McCleary was in no way prepared for this. But, this is one of the hardest things about being a civilian observer. Observe is about all we can do. There are lines that we are not to cross as citizens and this is one of them.

Best case scenario, nothing would be learned, except that people that are on edge after weeks of the entire town living under a cloud of suspicion, do not like civilians with no authority asking to be allowed to search their homes. Worst case scenario, someone gets arrested for interfering in an investigation, or they do meet up with the person resposible and another person dies.

The hardest part is realizing that you have done all that you can. I don't advocate shoddy police work, but I don't advocate people placing themselves in harm's way, either.

Yes, God Bless her memory and her wonderful family for their integrity. I think about her often

OT I also think allot about Brooke Wilberger, and her presumed killer's trial is coming up real soon. xoxoxo
